quote: We living in the HD era, so i don't want to use component cable
Why not? Component is HD, just like HDMI or DVI, only it's an analog connection. I honestly notice no difference between HDMI and component on my Sony HDTVs at all, only reason I use HDMI is the eliminate cable rat nests as only one cable is needed for audio and video as opposed to 4. And By the way, you got ripped off big time getting cables from those scam artists at Monster. -- Don't Blame Me, I Voted For McCain Welcome to The SSA, The Socialist States of Amerika, Lead By Your Dictator, Hussein Obama Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Fidel Castro, Saddam Hussein, B. | visuelez how long does it take to fix a problem @ twcnyc? i reported the cspan problem a month ago. they seem to make it worse by overdriving the right channel audio and still no left channel audio. and yes many hotels are still analog as rooms take channels 2-13 and there are about 20 digital boxes in the basement that convert digital to analog. |

| reply to visuelz Not so much of an issue (I think) yet, but have been having audio dropout problems of late with my 8300HD DVR.
I've noticed the problem when I'm watching a recorded program on Fox HD (705). I'm also recording another program at the same time I'm recording the one on Fox (but that channel doesn't have issues). No video problems at all. Using component cables.
Ideas? |

| I have these audio drop-out issues as well with my SA 8300HD also on FOX it has been so bad lately that it has driven me to torrenting the episodes to get a copy that I can hear all of the word that are being spoken. Is it box or cable related been thinking of TEVO lately for more drive space and features. |

@rr.com | ch705 and 711 have been bad for months, fix it already! also on my hd tv without a box, fox and cw are the only ones that give proper PSIP channel number like 5-1 or 11-1. i think time warner just doesnt like fox and cw. |

| I have noticed that just today in the North Jersey area the program guide has changed colors. I equate this to a software/firmware upgrade of some sort. How do I access the SA 4250HDC box's diagnostics menu? Up until today I pressed volume down/up at same time until mail flashed, then pressed channel up. That doesn't seem to be working now. Any insight, Visuelz? |

@rr.com | reply to visuelz Same here in NY - now there is no digital 5.1 sound. Thanks Time Warner. Fios is looking better and better. |

| reply to visuelz I just switched from EarthLink Broadband to RoadRunner with Turbo expecting a big increase in speed. I notice a at night peak hours (9pm) my connection just bogs down, I run a speed test at speed test.com and at speedtest.nyc.rr.com with a 1.5m DL and 400kbps UL compared to off peak (7am) 15m DL and 780kps. I live at Flushing Queens. Is this an issue with Time Warner. Any advise is appreciate.
Thanks Busted |

| reply to visuelz Has anyone's boxes been slower to respond since they updated the firmware last week? I didn't think it could get any worse, but I guess I should have learned my lesson from the internet side of their business.

| I've been having issues with the new firmware where upon changing channels, the title and the channel icon change, but the number doesn't. Also when using the guide , if I hit up or down, occasionally it will just take off in either direction and not stop scrolling.
Oh and changing channels is still horribly slow. |

| reply to visuelz I heard that the Passport boxes will be getting MDN starting on May 31st. However this will likely be a staged roll out. TWC has done this before where they rollout an update on one box type, then another, and so on. MDN is for the non HDC boxes or the Samsung boxes. MDN is not written in Java and it's better in some cases than ODN but it has it's problems. It's faster than ODN but not as stable though they may have fixed that. There are probably a few Passport areas here and there so they will eventually have to update them. Once the Passport areas get updated to Navigator then it's the SARA areas next. SARA owners might actually like this update since it will give them some neat features. By then MDN and ODN will be much better. Same with the boxes. Hope this helps. |

| Had a weird deal with my 8300HD DVR. It's like it went back in time. Some of my saved shows from a few days ago were deleted, and they had shows there from 4/9 that I had already viewed/deleted (which when I tried to access were not available). They also had restored shows to my series manager which I had canceled weeks ago. |

| reply to visuelz Re: Issues with Time Warner Cable service in Flushing, New York
Sadly Time Warner Cable HD TV service in the NYC area stinks. I am in the Flushing Queens, NY area of service. I too have been experiencing drop outs, pixelixation, freeze ups, on various HD channels more and more. I went and exchanged my old Scientific Atlanta HD box and got their new Samsung 3050 box. Still get the pixelization freeze ups and audio drop outs on some HD channels I watch. I was trying to watch a HD MAX channel one night and that one channel was constantly freezing up and blanking out to where 90% of the time all I see is a blank screen! Yet if I switch channels one up or one down, those other channels were coming in smooth. That tells me that Time Warner is screwing up the signal somehow at their source feed end! I am getting tired of this poor service as almost every HD movie I watch has to freeze up and pixelate and go blank every time! I bet they do that so that you cannot have a complete smooth recording of a movie?!!? I am soon thinking of canceling my Time Warner TV services as they have the balls to hike my subscription prices now to ridiculously unaffordable, unjustifiable and unsustainable by me. |

P.S. Channels that appear next to each other on the box don't have to be on adjacent frequencies on the cable. |
