quality issues

honestly folks, i've had it with quality issues when it comes to cell phones. maybe you're too young to remember how clear a nice landline sounds like. when i talk to people on the cell phone, its always intermittently bad and it never REALLY sounds GOOD.

i had that experience the other day with a friend at work... we were talking on the cell phone and it was just frustrating. so we switched to landline and i joked with him that they'll NEVER replace landlines in as far as quality.

face it folks. we're sacrificing quality for the sake of convenience and costs. don't deny it to me with a straight face!

anyway, back to VoIP ... its doing just fine folks. these articles are just meant to stir up discussion and increase revenue for DSLR ... which is fine with me.

disagree about costs. cell phones are more expensive than land lines.

Re: quality issues

How? unlimited plans from the largest unlimited providers are cheaper starting at $37 per month roughly $40 after taxes. My T-Mobile phone is only $41 after taxes which i get 300anytime minutes and 5 free people that i talk to all the time.

That's less than what ATT is going to give me for a landline. Especially when you factor in long distance. OH! and no contract!

Re: quality issues

not the largest providers. regional providers with limited roaming. your tmobile and 5 people free is a good example of restrictions by cell providers--basically, a gimmick. pay a bit less, but only if you talk to these 5.

bad mood today.

Re: quality issues

MetroPCS Cricket and Revol are considered national customers. They offer coverage in more than what touches their home states. Which makes them National. Besides who do you think is going to pick up the areas that VZW and Alltel get rid of? You don't think Sprint is going to pick that up. And US Cellular is already one of the most expensive companies on top of AT&T and VZ.

Revol is a private company based in Ohio and has been in the unlimited business well before Cricket and Metro even began to think it was a player.

And the 5 people is a great thing. I do talk to those 5 people all on a regular bases. It keeps my plan down and not requiring a ton of minutes. People that have Alltel MyCricle enjoy that for the same thing. They get to talk to people on landlines and other providers all the time without worrying about minutes or being mobile to mobile.

It's great!

But paying a bit less? Try paying almost $70+ less. As i'm able to keep the 300minute plan and still talk to my brother all i want, my grandparents and my other half who has Alltel. Plus i have a local number for my grandmother to call forwarding to my cell and I have 1 empty still.

metro pcs
ok you got me--they are national providers with EXTREMELY LIMITED roaming ability. in other words, they charge for roaming like back in the day. purple is their no-charge roaming/network. everything else costs money.

i'm all for saving money. i use a prepaid plan myself. how many of your 5 people are local calls by traditional phone standards? calling them free was always free---with a landline.

Re: quality issues

That is their network now. And their phones if you read their site; are to replace your landline not become your full roaming cell phones.

Actually i don't own a landline. Why should I and everyone i talk to all the time is free.

None of my calls are local in MyFav5. They're all long distance. So id be paying over $60 for a landline just to talk to my family.

How was calling Cali from a landline in Ohio free without long distance? or calling another city 35 to 40 miles way local? It wasnt back then and it isnt now unless you you extra for it or unless you have a cell phone or cable phone.

otherwise Landline phone you'll be paying out the ass for. And i use more minutes a month that what you you spend for a prepaid cell phone.

OH! PagePlus Cellular (a reseller based in Toledo Ohio of VZW) has unlimited local and nationwide calling for $80 per month. No contract!

Re: quality issues

t-mobile at home local phone service is $10/month for unlimited calls. if you're just looking at a cell phone to replace a landline and save money then you will save even more with this product. unlimited nationwide--not just to your myfav5. just fyi.

my point is that people think cell phones save them money. in almost all instances, this is not true.

Re: quality issues

for a great deal of money they do.

I'm one of those people. I know several people that they save enough with their cellphone just to have a local pots for DSL. The savings from the cell phones pays for the landline.
