I tried it under Opera 9.63 along with IE7.
I think I pass the minimum browser requirements... don't you? lol

I've submitted a technical support ticked to SMC with detailed info on the issue. Hopefully I'll get some help.

Contacted SMC and they told me my support for this router expired. However, they told me since I am a valued customer they would assist me.

I've tried all they're suggestions about rebooting the router, resetting the router, trying another browser, trying another browser on a different PC to access the router...ect ect... but it's not working. I explained all this in my last e-mail. I also included my browser SOURCE info for the routers login page in IE7 and Opera 9.63 which clearly STATES in the source code that it can only accept 9 characters max, when in fact it is suppose to be 12 as SMC has stated in the routers built in help file. Not one single updated piece of firmware has EVER been created for this router since it's factory stock release of R1.00 Feb 23, 2005. You would think that SMC would have released something in regards to security fixes, bugs, feature updates, ect... but no. Doesn't this seem odd? I mean can this wired router be THAT good that not one firmware release has ever been created to address ANY problem? Take a look at any other wired router (Linksys, D-Link) and notice how there firmware is updated almost all the time.

Bottom line is I think I need an updated piece of firmware.
The question here is, will SMC go out of their way to create an updated piece of firmware that addresses this bug, even though technical support for this router was retired years ago.

LAST FIRMWARE RELEASE: »62.168.45.50/smc/drivers/router/···port.txt

Looks like SMC is ignoring all future requests from my e-mail address about this issue, and choose not to work with me in developing a simple firmware update that addresses the password limitation bug. SMC is not interested in helping me resolve this issue because my product is out of date. Fair enough I suppose. So, realizing they are ignoring a past customer, I have jumped ship to Cisco. It was fun. Now I'll either just hold onto this router knowing it's 9 digit password limitation or sell it. It's a great wired router. Wish SMC would have taken some time to work with me on the issue.
