| [Wireless] MacBook unable to "see" WHR-HP-G54 An associates MacBook has been unable to see our WHR-HP-G54 router.
The Mac does see six nearby wireless networks, [none] of which is running via an Apple AirPort router. It has even been able to connect with two of the unprotected networks. It simply can not see our Buffalo router.
The WHR-HP-G54 has been working well with our PCs, each of which is equipped with a Buffalo cardbus adapter, configured with AOSS.
Have turned off AOSS, manually configured the encryption settings. But the MacBook still does not see the router. I must be doing something wrong.
We have been considering upgrading to MacBooks, but are now concerned that they will not work with our existing wireless network.
Configuration tips/suggestions would be appreciated. |

If you are trying to hide your SSID [leaving that field blank] in a misguided attempt at security then you may have problems.
Your SSID is broadcast whether you like it or not, trying to hide it can only cause you and your neighbors problems and does not provide any security.
If it is Broadcast your Mac should see it.

Just checked and indeed the SSID was not enabled.
Unfortunately, the MacBook is longer at hand, so will have to test at a later date.

If the SSID not shown you're not going to be able to link to the wireless if on a MAC, just like you where at an airport to connect to there SSID. The MAC should see it if the SSID and give it a name. Example. Zelig-GWR so your wireless should see that then connect make sure you assign a passcode for it. |
