Differences between VZW BB Access Cards -- Real-world Exp.

Can Verizon Wireless explain why you would buy their products?

I am looking to buy a EVDO card and I looked at the available models online and compared features. All the cards listed had the same features. How to choose? What do you get when you pay more?

Below is the unedited text of my live online chat session with the sales representative for Verizon Wireless, in which she basically says that the more expensive cards are more expensive because they cost more. That's it.

Funniest thing is they call her a 'sales associate.'

Chat Information- Please wait for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience!
Chat Information- A Verizon Wireless online pre-sales specialist has joined the chat. You are now chatting with Troynette
Troynette: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
You: wireless broadband cards
Troynette: I'd be happy to help you with that.
You: i'm looking at the various cards and i don't see any feature differences between the models
You: what are the differences and what are you paying extra for with the more expensive models -- given that the least and most expensive seem to have identical features
Troynette: Yes, but one may run faster then the other or pick up better reception than the other.
Troynette: The aircards pick up better than the modems.
You: ok so where are the specs on that?
Troynette: Aircards are made for traveling purposes and therefore tend to pick up faster than modems.
Troynette: Modems are made for pc use really while aircards are made for laptops.
You: ok so where would i find the specs that show how the different models perform?
Troynette: All the features are there, they're all listed the same way.
Troynette: All of them do the same amount of work.
Troynette: One just works better than the other.
You: right ... so how do i compare them to find which models work better than the others?
Troynette: Click on the box next to the model or models and click on compare.
You: right ... you do that and they all show the same features
Troynette: Exactly, aircards are made for travel which mean they would pick up more on the towers than the modems would. If you would like more in depth reviews, you may contact our technical support team at 18009220204.
You: i'm comparing the 5750 pc card, the 680 express card and the aircard 595 -- all show the exact same features and exact same specs for download and upload ... so what's the difference ... why would i choose the more expensive card?
Troynette: All are made differently, different shape different sizes, some may cost more than others.
You: i get it -- the difference between the less and the more expensive cards is the more expensive cards look different and cost more
You: thank you ...

If you think form factor isn't a big deal, have fun snapping the USB connector off the cheapo card all the VZW stores sell.

The agent while right that some cards might perform better on the VZW network than another fails to realize that VZW does not say which ones are the better performers.

IMHO the real difference between cards and their prices is form factor.
