MLPPP failing on ERX 06.. Tried several times. Other ERXs OK.
ps... pings are getting out of control on ERX06. We need ERX05 back. |

@vaxination.ca | TSI marc announced in another thread that he would disable MLPPP on ERX06 beceause it was causing too many problems on that unit (a 1440 with multiple Bell lines coming in) |

I think Tsi_Marc had to shutdown mlppp on erx6 due to some bugs not fixed yet by juniper. ERX1 to 4 still have it. |

| reply to mlppp fail Tomato/MLPPP has an option in the advanced section to reject non-mlppp connections. This will ensure that you don't connect to ERXes that have MLPPP disabled, such as ERX06.
We're going to make this option the default in next release, although that won't necessarily affect existing users (without forcing it on when people upgrade). We'll have to figure out what to do about that. |

whats TSI doing to fix the high pings on ERX06? Maybe your ping issue is because you are using single link MLPPP |

If for whatever reason the guys @ TSI turn off MLPPP on their end, will tomato still connect to them? Checking this option is cool but if it leaves my router stranded without a connection just because MLPPP is down, thats not cool.
Thoughts? |

1 edit | That's the idea, yeah. If TekSavvy disable MLPPP on all ERXes, you'll have to uncheck that option to connect.
If you don't check the option, though, it'll be difficult to get an MLPPP connection, since MLPPP is suppose to be disabled on everything but ERX01 these days.
I've been noticing extremely long connection times with MLPPP over the last 24 hours (20-30 minutes to connect a single line, 1-2 times that to bring the second line up), mostly due to Bell's throttling connection attempts. So MLPPP is going to be a bit painful until TekSavvy gets things under control. |

| reply to bacon612 with the new setup that we just finished installing, there should not be a need for this option to be checked so long as you have your login enabled for mlppp. if you're not already on erx1 you can post in the direct forum or email support to be added, preferably not call in for it please. -- TSI Marc - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. |

The only way you can be on ERX1 is to have us enable mlppp for your login on our side.
And if we have you enabled, you will always fall on ERX1. -- TSI Marc - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. |

| It looks like my primary line immediately gets sent to ERX01, but my secondary line is hitting random ERXes until it hits ERX01.
As in, I'm getting the wrong endpoint discriminator a bunch of times on the second link, and eventually hitting ERX01 through the round-robin. |

| reply to mlppp fail Is it possible that the endpoint being reported is the ERX that I physically go through, rather than the ERX that's handling my connection?
So say I connect. I hit ERX03 (for example), which tunnels my connection to ERX01 (I'm guessing). pppd would see the endpoint discriminator of ERX03 rather than ERX01.
So when the second link comes up, it keeps retrying until it hits ERX03, even though it can go through any ERX to get to ERX01? |

| reply to Guspaz something else is going on.
no matter what end point you hit, it will send you to ERX1.
is it possible that option in tomato is killing the session before it has time to be sent to ERX1?
ERX1 is behind all the other ERXs, i.e. anybody on ERX1 is infact on one of the other ERXs and being tunneled to ERX1. -- TSI Marc - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. |
