[Reception] Sirius Stiletto 2 Reception issue, poor signal, So.

I recently bought a new Stiletto 2, car kit and home kit with plans to replace my Starmate Replay with it. I'm in and out of my work truck a lot, so I wanted a portable, so could pop it out of the dock and go with it. NOPE. No reception unless I use the antenna headphones, which is still sketchy. With the regular ear buds that comes with it, I can only get few second of connection at a time even if I hold the Stiletto up in the air with no obstructions. My bro has a portable from XM, (Inno? something like that), which he sets next to a stereo in his garage, 15 feet away from an open door, and gets perfect reception. I can't even get that with the home kit antenna. In fact, his home kit antenna is about 25 feet away from a window, facing a plaster wall and works fine. My Sirius won't work with the home antenna sitting on the window sill. I mounted it outside, on the roof, facing North-East, as instructed, and still only get 1/3 to 2/3 signal strength. Accoring to some sites I have checked out, both XM and Sirius, (I realize they have merged), have repeaters at the same location about 10 miles away and I see there is another Sirius repeater about 5 miles north of me.

If you have made it this far through this story, hopefully someone can answer me this..

1) Are the Sirius repeaters and satelites much weaker than XM?

2) Are they going to ever be able to combine equipment for better signal for all users, without having to get a new radio?

3) If I am just doomed with poor signal in my location, (San Bernardino area, California), does Sirius gaurantee service quaility? Can I return this radio for full refund? Only had it a couple weeks.
