cabana : I do think I understand (but I will drink some more coffee just in case I am not getting it) :) ... as I said in previous post - they system does not KNOW you don't have the service - its a catch all -- perhaps a flaw if you will.

Sometimes members do have multiple reviews for more than one ISP and they could be current -- ie one for home and one for office. And member sometimes want to add something. Or a member might not know they can lodge more than one review so the prompt shows them they can add a new review.

In your case I get that you do NOT have those services previously reviewed. We don't delete because of the value of what you had to say -- the issue becomes as you have said " I don't have anything to say cause ... I don't have the service" ...but I am saying ... its only a prompt -- if it is applicable use it ... and if it is not applicable do nothing. In your case ... its not applicable ...unless you a) have a new ISP ... or b) do have something new to say on your last review -- as in " all is still great -- they lowered my cost" or "all is still great except they raised my rates" etc.

Again ... as said ... it is annoying if you don't have anything to add - but it is a catch all prompt - a general flag - it is not reading your exact situation - "system" just sees that you have reviewed. period. And then sends out a note saying "hey ... wanna update ... or hey ... wanna lodge a new review"?

I don't want to sound argumentative in the least - only hoping to explain... and appreciate that the bump to review could stand a little improvement.

Hall : I don't think you get my point. I completely understand the value of the reviews and don't want to take them away or discourage users not to submit them. I also don't want the ability/option to delete reviews. As it is, it's asking me -- I realize I can ignore it and it's not "insisting" -- to update ALL of my reviews. For most people, only the last one is likely current for them.

Think of it this way: You fill out a review of a car (let's say it's a Honda Accord) you own. A few years later, you sell that car, get a new one (an Acura something...), and complete a new review. Shortly after, that system asks you for an update on the Accord. What do you put ? Sure, you could say "I sold that car and no longer have it". A year later it wants another update. What will you put this time ?

Hall : Here's the relevant part of the IM:

So, it has been a while now, we were all wondering if you had an update? or perhaps any other new services to review?

Links to your previous review(s) are listed below. You will find an update button in them:
»Review of AT&T Midwest by Hall
»Review of Earthlink Cable Modem Service by Hall
»Review of EarthLink by Hall
I still have service with "AT&T Midwest" but the system really doesn't "know" that. As far as it's concerned, I still have service with the other two also. I only see an "updated" date so I can't really tell which is the newest, just the most recently updated. I think it should have an original review date and maybe "Last updated" or something.

To be honest, I've been getting these IMs for probably 1-2 years and I just ignore 'em. When I got the one today (or yesterday), it just struck me that maybe this system needs this option. I can understand keeping your current ISP and it's review up-to-date, but the other ones, are "closed" (for 99% of people, I'd say).
