| Voip/QoS Issues
Hey guys. Wanted to get an opinion about a problem that I am having. When I make calls with my voip adapters while maxing out my upstream, inbound voice is fine but no one can hear my outbound voice. If I lower the value on my outbound QoS, it makes no difference. Here are some pics of my router setup. I am hoping that I am missing something here.
btw... "Zingo" and "VYL" are the voip adapters |

| Then don't max out the upstream :P Also Where ur QOS rules are placed is another way the system looks at it for priority Ie ur Zingo I assume ur Voip Adaptor is at the bottom of ur list move it up nearest the top and it should make some difference. @videotron.ca | reply to bacon612 Maybe you have conflicting QoS rules.
TCP/UDP Dst port 1024-65535 Lowest
RTP/RTCP will match this rule.
Good Luck |

| reply to bacon612 Ok I have removed "TCP/UDP Dst port 1024-65535 Lowest" just in case its conflicting.
I currently forward the correct ports for adapter "A" and then put Adapter "B" in DMZ in tomato. Do any of you think that this is conflicting?
If so, how do you correctly forward ports to 2 different adapters behind 1 firewall?
Adapter "A" requires: 5004 UDP, 5060-5069 UDP and 16384-16482 UDP
Adapter "B" requires: 53 - 53 UDP 69 - 69 UDP 5060 - 5063 UDP 10000 - 20000 UDP
How would you guys set your tomato forwards with these adapters? |

| Usualy with a DMZ topology, all traffic not matching port forwarding rules for adapter "A" will go to adapter "B" (DMZ). But, by definition, a DMZ will only allow traffic originating from the outside. So it's possible that adapter "B" is unable to register with your VoIP provider/PBX. |

1 edit | They both register, its call quality that I'm after. The adapter in DMZ would be better than the one with the correctly forwarded ports. My theory is that DMZ was taking precedence over the correctly forwared ports of adapter a.
Heres what I just set. Why wouldnt this work?
Adapter "A" is "VYL Voip" and "B" is "Zingo Voip" |

| Bacon612, Far as I can see there is no reason to port forward any ports for these voip adaptors and unless ur adaptor accepts DNS (port 53) requests theres no point opening that up to the public either. In most cases these adaptors will open up the required ports when needed. Else everything is outgoing only. Hence the registration bit. Unless you have ur firewall blocking all outgoing too.. Like I said in the QOS rules just move up ur voip adaptors furthur up the list and try it from there. -- Come join us on EFNET irc.dks.ca #teksavvy for live chat Java Chat back online @ »teksavvy.kicks-ass.net |
