| ADSL2 Reseller?
Hey with 3web looking like they are about to go bankrupt many will need a new ISP. They had 7 mb cable and it was fast and you could download as much as you want.
They finally put a adsl2 remote box in my area. Why does it seem no dsl resellers cant do any better than 5 mb download/800 k upload??? Will it never happen or is the CRTC just red taping it so the little guys cant get in?
Anyways to anyone who may know when you can, or when you will sell ADSL2 service how long approximately will it be and at what price/ speed most importantly??? |

| Well basically, speeds are defined in the CRTC tariffs. There is no tariff for 7 mb+ speeds for wholesale. Bell offered wholesale customers (TekSavvy etc) faster speeds but with a bandwidth cap so of course the providers rejected the proposal. I'm not sure exactly what's going to happen now but what is on the table is a proposed revision to the tariff to include bandwidth usage caps and this is with or without higher speeds. |

Those ISP's that have their own DSLAM's installed are free to set whatever speeds they want. |

| I believe those ISPs with their own DSLAMs are Primus and maybe Yak (in the big cities. In smaller towns there may be more and better options)...search the forum...they don't have very good reputations.
There is however the bonding of more than one DSL line using MLPPP available only on Velcom and Teksavvy. Search the forums for info. Costly (compared to 3web) but reliable!! |

| reply to willrogersgo4g The only ISPs with their own DSLAMs are Primus, Allstream, Nexicom, MNSi, and maybe a few others I forgot...pretty sure Yak isn't as they resell TSI DSL.
3Web/CIA could have done very well if they had a good service. Unfortunate.

| TekSavvy says they were just outsourcing some customer service stuff for Yak, but we've seen Yak customers going through TekSavvy ERXes, so obviously there's some reselling/wholeselling going on too.
But Yak has announced that they intend to install their own DSLAMs due to Bell's interference. And since they're a multi-billion dollar megacorporation, they can afford to do it too. Although I'd imagine most of those billions of dollars are probably going into their new national wireless network. |

I have looked around it seems on average the best you can get is 35 $ for 5 mb / 800 k unlimited.
Do any have Usenet?
i would like to see more cable resellers though itll suck if 3web goes. It would be great to see companies like acanac start selling ADSL2 at competitive prices. |

| Thats an excellent deal so Acanac you can actually get for 19 a month if you pay a year in advance?
Does Acanac throttle or have usenet?
Apparently Velcom is good.
Anyways do any guys here i know some of you own or work for smaller DSL ISP's. I feel your pain with the CRTC and its to bad it hurts the smaller firms with their red tape.
Do you guys think you can have ADSL2 any time soon? ALso to any guys in the business what does Bell have in store for internet. ADSL2 wont be good for very long with docsis 3. 16 mb download is nothing really special. Bell talked about having IPTV back in 2007, it seems nothing has happened. All i have seen is more remote DSLAMS. |

Does Acanac throttle or have usenet? They don't throttle, but Bell throttles all DSL wholesalers. Acanac has an SSH workaround and is working on MLPPP.

All i have seen is more remote DSLAMS. At the moment, no. But the CRTC recently ruled that Bell must give wholesalers access to ADSL2+ speeds, so expect offerings form wholesalers in a few months. They'll be the equivalent of Bell's speeds, so the wholesalers will have 7, 10, and 16 megabit services. |
