| No Longer can access Interface in the Speedstream 5200 Hi people, sorry I posted the wrong information before.
I have a Speedstream 5200 formally from bell, I mistakenly did a factory reset and now cant get into the interface. The IP address no longer works, is there anyone out there that knows how I can get back in??
Also I am thinking about buying the speedstream 516, does anyone know if its really any good??

I "think" 516 is "the most" popular modem around here ... and price is good as well. -- I was born intelligent, but education ruined me ...

| Re: No Longer can access Interface in the Speedstream 5200 If you make a quick search on this forum, you will find TP-LINK modems also use broadcom chips, like in ST-516, which are thought to be good. ST-516 is for "geeky" person for its rich features as I observed. But I always use my modem in bridge mode, so a cheap but stable one is enough.

| Re: No Longer can access Interface in the Speedstream 5200 I am not clear about this "manufacturing" thing. But from my pre-purchase research and 8 days testing, it turns out to be good.
Mind giving more details how these two are manufactured? I am interested.

This also varies largely on firmware and the specific 5200 version you have. Do you have the "all black" or "black with gray" version (E242 vs. E240)?
You might also want to look at the SS5200 FAQ with the Bell firmware: »Bell Canada Internet FAQ -- Erik - Caneris - Internet solutions and more.

As I said, there are various IPs it may be accessed, depending on the hardware and firmware...please refer to the FAQ link I posted, as it has all the info.
e.g. instead of 192.168.2.1 it may also be 10.0.0.1.
EDIT: also, did you notice you're typing in 198.161.2.1 in your post instead of 192.168.2.1? If you're trying that one, it won't work. -- Erik - Caneris - Internet solutions and more.

There was no mistake. If all you did was a reset then »192.168.2.1 will work. If it doesn't then the modem is probably frigged. But not because of a reset.
under the modem if a sticker, if it shows E240 then that IP will and would never have worked (depending on firmware). If the sticker shows E242, then that IP should work, or the IP the other person gave you. If not, then I doubt it was a Bell firmware on it, or the modem is frigged.
A simple reset does not frig up the modem.

| Re: No Longer can access Interface in the Speedstream 5200 it says e242, and it was a Bell firmware, the second version with very little options. But after I pushed that reset button, I have never been able to access it, I have tried 192.168.2.1 and it did not work, it doesnt connect at all, just keeps searching. It might have screwed up when I clicked a link to bridge it. There was a link on a site I found on one of these forums about bridging it, I clicked on it, then reset it by accident, then I tried to get back in and it didnt work, so yeah now that I think about it, it could have been that link. Is there nothing that could be done? | |

| The funny thing is the speedstream 5200 still works if I plug it in, but for some reason feels slow.
I am currenlty using Acanacs DSL 600eu and it seems to work ok, but I think I might have data loss, as it drags on a bit, and from what I read, its not the best either.
