| Re: Comcast early termination fee. I'm talking specifically about Comcast.. and yes, some systems in the east coast do have contracts with ETFs.. few, but they do exist on SOME of the promo offerings.
But, you are right, it's LARGELY been a telco ploy to keep customers.
Keep in mind, however, cable has changed its ways over the times. Example: They USED to bash satellite for their PPV being only in 1 room / 1 box at a time while cable was per account. Was supposed to be a great benefit. THEN cable moved to the same scheme for years, only to RECENTLY start moving back, some of them. They also talked about how you didn't have to pay any mirroring fee's for additional boxes.. and, to this day, there are still cable companies (Comcast, Charter, Mediacom to name a few) that still charge for the box rental AND a "mirror" or "gateway" fee on additional outlets bringing the fees upwards to about $13 per additional room.
So.. things do change. |
