| Did TaylorTroll move to NZ? Some here might remember Taylor Troll. He would pop in during any discussion of copyright infringement allegations. The mere allegation that someone infringed copyright led him to conclude that the person should be stuck in jail for a long time. He was immune to arguments about due process and that they might be falsely accused.
Now it seems that people with minds similar to his, are writing laws in New Zealand. Who needs proof? Just the mere allegation of copyright infringement is enough to get you kicked offline with no recourse.
This law is ridiculously easy to abuse. Did you say something on your blog that I don't like? I'll just call your ISP and accuse you of copyright infringement. Bam! You're offline. Chances are, you won't even know who reported you so you can't retaliate. And even if I'm found out, there's no penalty for false reporting. A small group of like-minded individuals could force offline anyone who disagrees with them or opposes them. Scary, indeed!
