the biggest problem is that dsl has too many limitations to qualify for the service. No mater what happens cable will beat dsl hands down. because there is no distance limitations at all with cable. As long as you have access to the lines you are good to go.

That's not always the only factor to determining 'who wins'.
If I could get 3-6Mbps DSL (3Mbps DSL is available here) and VoIP for $50/month, I'd drop cable tomorrow.

Cable has been VERY unreliable here in Santa Clarita over the past few months that I've had service. TV/Phone/Internet outages have been often - a few times/month, and issues with DHCP/DNS have caused many other issues.
In the 5 years prior, I have had less outages (outside of SCE burning AT&T's wire) than I have in the 5 months of TWC service. The problem with AT&T, is that they're being bullish on service, and there are few deals to be had.
