Re: Post a picture of your ride! From what I gather, the Smartstream engines are also Theta III class. I'll admit it seems the information is a bit confusing and sketchy. In any case, my non-anecdotal experience with any Hyundai/Kia engine of the last ~14 tears - and many modern engines, for that matter - is that they are heavy oil consumers. Here is one source of issues covering a multitude of the vehicles: » jalopnik.com/hyundai-own ··· 48797045And another from just two days ago: » motorillustrated.com/a-m ··· n/97397/It is widespread, and covers Nu, Gamma, Lambda Theta, and Kappa engines. It is a huge issue. I'd suggest closely monitoring for the first 5/50 (Warranty is 50 years, 60K miles) that you have it. Once you get beyond the warranty period, they are SOBs to deal with. Look at their warranty coverage and you will see "consumables" (such as oils) are not covered. I'd suggest you check the Owner Manual for information relative to oil consumption; you will probably see that 1 quart in 1,000 miles is "acceptable" oil consumption. Not to me, it isn't. That supposes that in a common, 5-quart oil capacity vehicle, that in three thousand miles there will be only two quarts left? I wonder what the recommended oil maintenance interval is for the GV80? For Normal Service, it is 12 months, 8,000 miles. For Severe Service, it is 6 months, 6500 miles. The owner manual lists this as a 6.5 quart system. I was unable to find an oil consumption statement, but Genesis recommends that oil be checked every time the vehicle is fueled. Nobody does that any more - I don't; but my vehicle only uses maybe a half a quart in 5,000 miles. Not trying to rain on your parade, but forewarned is forearmed. |

If I may offer some unsolicited advise: Watch for oil consumption/loss issues with this model. There have already been reports of oil consumption issues with the Theta III engine, which the GV80 shares.
The Theta II engines were subject of a huge safety recall/fine to the tune of 1.3 Billion (yes, that's a 'B') dollars. Hyundai has been less than forthright about this.
Do not avoid the dealership on this vehicle, or you will get the runaround from Kia/Hyundai (same company, basically). I have several folks I have been helping with engine issues, and they play hardball and freeze-out.
Word to the wise. |

I thought that was a Lincoln at first.
Hyundai has really done a remarkable line with the Genesis division. I saw one of their sedans a couple of days ago and found myself drooling as it drove off. |

Thanks. After 230k on the clock and an exhaust that decided to divorce itself from the rest of the car, it was time to retire my wife's 2008 Subaru Legacy Limited. RIP - Subie you will be missed. Replaced her with a 2022 Genesis GV80 Advanced 2.5T AWD. After a long wait and a dealer trying to charge us 50% over MSRP! we were able to find someone willing to sell us the GV80 at list price. Only 200 miles on the clock, but so far so good! |

said by AR:That’s super low mileage. My 2008 328i is already 166,000 miles! I put on about 50,000 in the first 4 years, then drove it to Mexico from New York. The beach is literally across the street, the pool is in the back yard. Most travel is by air, so the poor baby baked in the sun for the last 14 years with the salt air of the Caribbean eating at it, hence the complete restoration. I love that car. |

said by AR:Wow! What’s the mileage on that beauty?? As of this morning, about 95,000 miles. Just completed a ground up restoration including all new leather, new interior mouse fur, rust removl and paint. One month's work. Original motor. AC. transmission etc. Zero oil consumption. Upgraded ECU. Ceramic disks, stainless steel brake lines. M suspension. Handles beautifully, goes like a bat out of you know where. |

Talking about curves, I rented this brand new Mazda 6 with a 2.2l Diesel engine for my holiday in Ireland. So new it even had some plastic covering left on the dashboard leather. Very curvy, but a real snub nose. |

Sorry for the delay, I was away on vacation for a couple of days. Here are pictures I took on my driveway around 1988, just after washing the car. |

Welp I traded in the BMW from my last post and got myself one of those new fangled electric cars. A 2018 Tesla Model S 75D. My first brand new car, and I am liking it a lot so far. |

Here's my 2017 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso. It's got a 1.6l Diesel engine (85kW @3500rpm, torque 300Nm (221 lbf.ft) @1750rpm) driving a 6-speed Aisin torque converter. Its fuel economy (based on driving 18,000km in 5 months) is 42.77mpg(US). A feature I like a lot are the directional Xenon headlights with automatic high beams. |

I have a 1985 Celica GT-S. I only drive the car from April-September typically. This shot is shortly after having the body restored in 2008. Unfortunately the paint is faded now. Edit: The uploader is not working for me, it says the picture is uploaded but nothing is shown! Well, I've tried a dozen time, it flashed 100% upload but no picture shown. WTF? Edit2: I gave up on the uploader, here's a post with my cars. |
