I am surprised! Ten years ago I worked at GP quite a bit doing fire door "drops". It sounds like the place is moving up, and I'm glad to hear it. Ya'll always had some pretty, down to earth, friendly women down there, and the place isn't "dry" anymore?! I may have to come visit. -- "I hope you did something important today, 'cause it cost ya another day of your life." |

| reply to eatatjoz you would be surprised. the only thing that has stopped Crossett from growing is all the age 45+ people who missed the boat on technology. and continue to vote in mayors who think technology is a john deer tractor with run flat tires lol.
Crossett is Fiber Fed and has been setup for the last 10 years to be in the forefront of broadband if a company invested the money in there own equipment.
oh and I wish I was still in Van Buren lol. i miss my 18mb cable with cox there |

| reply to Atekido I'm not going to be very helpful, but consider driving to Bastrop. Get yourself some beer and forget about it. If it doesn't involve wood pulp, Crossett doesn't care. Just my 2 cents. -- "I hope you did something important today, 'cause it cost ya another day of your life." |

| reply to Atekido Crossett area will get new television provider By Danielle Kloap Jan 1, 2009, 22:26
Crossett cable customers will have a new cable provider after the first quarter of the new year.
Cable South Media is purchasing certain systems of Charter Communications, including the Crossett location.
According to Glenda Elliott, Cable South business manager, the transaction will not result in a loss of jobs for the current Charter Communications employees in Crossett and the new company will keep the local office. She said that the switch from Charter Communications to Cable South will not negatively affect the cable provided to customers.
There will be no difference in the service offered now except for even better customer service, Elliott said.
Elliott said that the company is not exactly sure what will be done to the cable service in Crossett, but that it will be upgraded. The company, based in Milan, Tenn., plans to offer Internet almost immediately and add high-definition channels later, she said.
Crossett Mayor Scott McCormick said that he thinks that it is too soon to tell how this buyout will affect Crossett cable customers. He said that he heard mention of digital video recorders' and phone service's possibly being provided by Cable South. He also said that he hopes that Cable South will keep its prices comparable to the services offered.
So many folks are dissatisfied with Charters service, McCormick said. But anything with better service is a plus. |

The best place to find out what is going on with your local area is to head on down to Crossett City Hall and talk to the City Employee in charge of the Cable Franchise Authority. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

| someone told me in the Ashely County Ledger is was said a Company called Mid South something Cable is buying out Charter in Crossett and that #1 priority was Bringing in Cable Internet.
has anyone heard of this also? if so know anything about the new company?
this would be a Godsend for our area. no longer would windstream be the Sole provider of true broadband here.
and crossett has been Fiber Fed for 7 years so im gonna imagine the potential for some 15+ mb cable could be given out if they use decent equipment.
it would force windstream here to really change there ways. sense Cable does not have near the distance limitations.
anyhow if anyone has any insight on this send me a message.
oh how i would love to get back on a 18 mb connection. i know cable can bog down with lots of traffic but it never did for me in a town of 60k that probly the majority all was on it. |
