How Delete Old Symantec Quarantine Folder?Win XP Pro
Since my DSL ISP, Verizon-Yahoo, stopped offering Symantec Virus Scanner security package for free, I uninstalled all Symantec stuff, picked up Avast VS and ran it yesterday.
It found a virus but it was in C:\Docs and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\SRTSP\Quarantine
I figured I could delete that folder now, but delete wouldn't work.
How can I get rid of that folder and it's contents? |

Hi. I ran the Symantec removal tool. I found another Symantec something or other the other day too though. It's not completely thorough.
When I try to delete I get window
titled: "Error Deleting File or Folder" containing: Cannot delete Quarantine: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use. |

I just noticed I got something from McAfee under Application Data also. I had McAfee before at some point.
OK, now I'm looking closer. There is something from AVG in there too, which I probably also used at one time. I deleted the McAfee and AVG7 OK. |

Try using 7-zip. The GUI is quite powerful and seems to find folders not shown anywhere else. Then right-click on what you want and select, delete. You may need this: » www.askvg.com/add-take-o ··· s-vista/take ownership of the vault folder and delete the whole thing. The run this: » eraser.heidi.ie/ and make sure its gone. |

Thanks guys. I'll check one or more of those things out and get back to this soon. |

Try opening your Downloaded program files folder with explorer. Then open it with 7zip. |

You have something either wrong with your system or its setup. FYI, WinRAR works just like 7Zip. Explorer view

and if you manage to solve symantec issue with either archive software, well that would be amazing. rerun norton removal tool; take ownership of that folder; and use that unlock tool |

As you have XP Pro, there is a little trick that will overcome that. Potentially dangerous in the hands of the computer illiterate, or those with ill intent. Public knowledge, and available on the 'net, but I'm not going to add another source here if I don't have to. It will get you logged on as SYSTEM, and you can do what you want. Preferably for good, not evil...
If the other methods posted don't work, let us know. |

Yes, truly legit. The only emails you get are the serials or registration keys needed to register and license the programs. Then you can un-subscribe from further offers and everyone so far has worked for me and many, many users in the Forum.
