Re: Need help with removing code/advertisement on 3rd party page

Ok, that changes things a little bit. I would think $600 a month should entitle you to ad-free pages. When you contact them ask them if they have an API available. If not, we might need to see their terms of usage for the services you're paying for. Wouldn't want you to get your service cut off for scraping data.

We pay $575/month for a 30 vehicle listing. That is not to say we are entitled to anything. Just stating that we are a paying customer. I'm going to contact them about my options. (This whole thing came up because a potential customer had contacted me and asked about the low financing rates advertised on our inventory webpage. Well it was really the ad in the frame on our website. So I wanted to get rid of the ads.)

I'll have to check if they have the API thing.

Are you paying for this service? Or is it free? Because if it's free it's because its paid for by the advertisers.

I would recommend upgrading to a paid version if they have one. Alternatively, you could try and find someone to do a screen scraping script for you. Or you could do all the manual labor of downloading each individual page, stripping out the advertising HTML/JS, and uploading the webpage to your server. Neither of those options will be cheap (either time, or money).

Ya, I doubt they would look kindly on that. If they find out they may block your hotlinking and potentially delete your vehicle listing. I'm very much against advertisements on sites, but you don't control this one and unless they offer an API to get raw data you can't easily remove the ads.

Yes, they have a webpage with just our vehicles but it includes ads. This is the actual page:

So you want to use cars.com services to list your vehicles and then hot link their page on your website using an iframe and then strip out their ads?
