Altel is not available in my area but had great reviews (and was gobbled up by Verizon.) Just because AlTel was not willing to offer me service doesn't mean they were a bad company. Judging a few of their plans, I would have signed with them too.
Sprint is available in most areas as is ATT, T-Mobile and Verizon. There are some places Verizon is not as is there are places other companies don't service.
My statement still stands. Verizon might be in a lot of places but their customer service was horrible IMHO. |

Did I say Spint was "bad"? no I said they have far fewer cusotmers and thus making an exclusive deal with them makes little sense if you goal is to attract as many customers as possible. |

As for the exclusive part, it's all about most bang for the buck. Verizon had the opportunity for the iPhone but said no because they wanted more money than Apple was willing to let go. They went to ATT and that seems to have paid off since half of the number ports to the iPhone were from Verizon.
»Half Of New iPhone Owners Came From Verizon
Imagine what would have happened if the iPhone went to Sprint.
T-Mobile has already signed with Danger (their Sidekick line which is now owned by Microsoft) and with Google and Android (with their G1 phone.) All carriers have Blackberries to a point as well as an assortment of Windows Mobile phones. If this new thing takes off, it could go well for Sprint and Palm. |

Sprint has 20-30 million customers and they are the number 3 carrier. Sorry you live in the middle of nowhere Tennessee and it doesn't make sense for them to deploy service to your area. |

1 edit | reply to BF69 Hmm...far fewer seems an odd statement considering as of July '07 Sprint trailed AT&T by 3.5% in market share... (little research always helps )
And as far as the quality...yes, their customer service sucks but frankly 90% of the off-shored service sucks as a matter of consequence. Their EVDO hauls comparatively and costs the least of all carriers.
