viperpa33sWhy Me?Premium join:2002-12-20 Bradenton, FL | Lexus' Trial Balloon On Car Spam I could see Lexus giving you $5,000 off on a car if you except the spam. I could see your dealership sending advertisements for service. When it comes time for a oil change a advertisement pops from a Lexus dealer telling you about the service deals they have.
It seems more and more we are being bombarded with advertisements. Products that we thought would be free from advertisements are now getting the ad label. Pretty much you can run but you can't hide. |

I have a Saturn and my OnStar emails me a report once a month that, among other status, lists my current Oil Life level and warns me when it is time to do an oil change (as well as providing a link to my dealer to schedule it). I have no problems with this and I have the impression that I will get an emergency email if needed if something can not wait until the next scheduled message.
I regard this as a service not a SPAM email since it is the only use they have made of my address. |

Just as long as it's a choice and not a requirement. Your feature is limited in scope compared to what Lexus has planned.
What Lexus wants to do is on the upward scale. They are going to send audio messages to your car regarding a specific subject. They say it's going to be limited and optional but it could have the potential to go much further. It would be like you getting audio messages to your telephone with potential of spam being sent.
It's a person's choice if they want this feature. Like I said, it has to be a choice and not a requirement. -- Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but the Democrats believe every day is April 15. Ronald Reagan |
