68.86.115.93 is not your first hop beyond your router - it is the second. The CMTS that supports your modem is configured to not respond to pings at its default address.
Disconnect your router temporarily, connect a computer directly to the modem, power down the modem and bring it back up to recognize the computer. Use IPconfig to determine the address of your default gateway. ping that. It should respond.
Most routers beyond the CMTS are configured to drop some or all packets. You cannot determine packet loss by pinging them. |
