I also won the 3347w-006 from a auction I bid on the other day.. figuring I would be out bid.

After learning it's not VGx base..and can't be updated do to its out of date wireless spec. I didn't want it. but you know how these auction things goes... you live by your rep.

I'm going to have a house full of modems next week.

I got the 3347NWG-VGx today. It turn out to be a Covad modal.. blah!!

But I manage to update it with nta7.7.4r1 firmware. Everything works. It shows fastpath But I hate covad interface. No advance options.

I sold the other 2 3347 modems. I still want a 3347nwg with Netopia interface. The Covad is fine but I cant tweak or look at my online stats on it. So my adventure continues.

I sold the 3347nwg-006 prematurely, thinking the 3347nwg-VGx was an original, not a Covad. But I manage to buy another 3347nwg-006 on Ebay for $9 today Ebay is amazing!

After all this i'm making a profit!

Was it the abercrombie fitch guy? How much did you pay for one. Including S/H?

I am looking for the covad 3347MWG-T (vgx)(California)
or the 3346N-002(i think all are generic netopia interface)

Yes.

$60 Including S/H, I probably could have gotten it cheaper. This was my offer to him. I needed to sweeten the pot for him to bite. The 5(bulk) for $200 adds up to $40 each.

Good luck

After having these 3347 modems I can say for a fact they have a higher sustainable speed and better noise margins than the 2200 series.

Here's my stats on the 2246N-VGx with the same 774r1 firmware.

3000/800 DSL line.

Downstream Upstream
---------- ----------
SNR Margin: 30.00 11.80 dB
Line Attenuation: 29.80 16.70 dB
Output Power: 19.14 12.29 dBm
...
Estimated loop length: 7446 feet (bridge tap)

Here's my stats from my newly acquired 3347-02-1006L

Downstream Upstream
---------- ----------
SNR Margin: 28.50 14.40 dB
Line Attenuation: 33.00 16.00 dB
Output Power: 19.60 12.29 dB
...
Estimated loop length: 7446 feet (bridge tap)

Here the stats on the 3347nwg-006

I see the 3347nwg-006 added a few feet to my loop length.

Since its the same hardware..(minus the bellsouth firmware) the stats are pretty much the same.

What we learn?

The 3300 series with the integrated broadcom chip has better upstream s/n margins than the 2200 series

Crap! My ISP has turn on interleave again......at a Depth of 352 on the downstream, with a 10ms delay

My first trace-route hop is over 50ms

The line is set where the DSL modem will sync at the highest possible speed.. which will in-turn enable interleave because of the line noise. And then the Dslam will lower the speeds to my 3meg plan.

It took me a year to get on fastpath after trying to explain what is was to my small ISP... and now its gone in a blink of and eye.
