[XP Pro] Filesharing problems after reinstalling OS

Ever since I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my desktop machine, I've experienced some bizarre behavior with file sharing. The other machines on my home network have no trouble seeing files and folders, but any files that were created *after* I reinstalled Windows cannot be copied to the machines. Instead, I get an error that says:

"Cannot copy [name of file] Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not in use."

Curiously, files that were created prior to the OS reinstallation can be copied just fine.

I'm at a loss to explain this. The Disk is 1 TB and is a little less than half full. I right-clicked on the files and they aren't shown as being write protected.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

A little more about this (on-going) problem: The files that can't be copied are mp3s that were moved to their current folder using a program called Tag & Rename.

Files that can be copied were copied to the folder using a standard Windows Copy and Paste. So what you have is a folder called Glasvegas with 10 mp3s in it that were moved there using the rename feature within Tag & Rename. My Windows XP Pro computer on the network and see these files, but when I try to copy them and paste them to the local hard drive I get the error message.

Interestingly, if I switch to the networked machine and use Windows XP to make a copy of all 10 files and put them in a new folder, I am able to copy and paste them over the network.

I think I figured out how to check permissions (short answer: disable Simple File Sharing). But it's really hard to know what I'm looking for.

Can someone please help?
