rkolech, I have my gateway set to the virtual router, and my dns set to my physical router. Once I'm done with my anti-throttling session, I just change the gateway back to my physical router and shut down zeroshell & virtual box.

A new version of Virtualbox has been released.

Based on the changelog, it looks like they may have fixed some BSOD's so it's probably worth downloading if you were previously having trouble with it.

I have my 2wire set up for Routed LLC. You can actually go to Zeroshell and change its IP to the 192.168.1.xxx range to match your 2wire setup (or you can change the 2wire address).

- Hit "I" for IP Manager.
- Hit "M" for Modify IP Address
- Hit the Enter key to accept ETH00 as the default interface
- Hit the Enter key to accept IP 1
- Enter 192.168.1.xxx, where xxx is whatever you want Zeroshell to have as an address
- Hit the Enter key to accept the default subnet mask
- Hit the Enter key to accept the up status
- Hit "Q" to exit the IP Manager

I have the 2wire handing out dhcp addresses for my other computers. Just remember to exclude the Zeroshell address in the 2wire DHCP setting. My main download computer has a hard coded ip for my subnet. Things are working pretty good with this setup.

You need to choose host interface in step 11, or else you will get the "Host not found" error when getting the Tomato file.

BTW, I tried the latest Tomato for Zeroshell and it works great with this setup. The file I'm referencing is at:

how do I do step 15? My PC rebooted twice 2 times too when I had the Virtualbox started and was trying to set it up. Also my router company said they don't support Tomato/MLPPP. I'm not sure if they meant both or MLPPP.

Go to the Command Prompt.
Type in: ipconfig.

It should tell you your current IP. Type that into the "remote IP" in Zeroshell and you should be good to go.

Another way of figuring out your IP is double clicking your LAN connection in the taskbar and clicking the Support tab (in XP) or the Details button (in Vista, I think) and it'll tell you your IP.

3) Go to 192.168.0.75
Login and click Network: Router.
In the menu on the top, it will say Manage, RIPv2, NAT and Virtual Server.
Click Virtual Server.
A new window will pop up.

Input interface: ppp0
IP Address: ANY
Protocol: TCP or UDP (whichever one you need)
Local Port: Whatever port you need.
Remote IP: Your current IP (ex: 192.168.0.42)
Remote Port: It will automatically be filled in by Zeroshell.
Click + to add the rule.

My computer just restarts when I start virtual box
My setup is 2wire modem directly to computer
So I followed the instructions installed virtual box but everytime I start it the computer just crashes and restarts, it looks like it works when i choose nat instead of host interface in step 11, but that's no good right, I had some problems in step 15 to set the ip and subnet on the machine but finally I set it up and once I actually enter the setup by typing »https:// 192.168.0.75 and was setting up the ppoe connection when the machine crashed again and restarted...can somebody help me here?

In order to do the MLPPP through windows, I had it in a bizarre setup someone suggested, it might have even been you. The modem is plugged into a LAN slot, and another LAN slot is plugged into the WAN slot.

It would depend on what you did in step 31. If you manually entered an IP, you would stick that IP in there (ex: 192.168.0.42). If you went the DHCP route, it would, as you said, get assigned an IP by Zeroshell.

Either way, you can check your IP by going to Control Panel > Network Connections > Your Connection. Right click and select Status and then click the Support tab.

As for port forwarding, it actually took me a while to figure that out too (I didn't clue in to the "Virtual Server" wording):

1 - Log into the ZeroShell webconfig

2 - Click on "Router" on the left-hand menu

3 - Click on "Virtual Server" on the top menu

4 - Select "ppp0" for the interface

5 - Leave "IP Address" as "ANY"

6 - Select the protocol (TCP/UDP) you want forwarded

7 - Enter the port to be forwarded in the "Local Port" field. This is the port it will listen on.

8 - Enter your computer's (or the computer to forward to) LAN IP in the "Remote IP" field

9 - If you want the external port forwarded to a different port, specify the internal port in the "Remote Port" field. Normally this will be auto-populated with what you entered in "Local Port".

10 - Press the "+" button to add the rule, close the window. You're done.

To delete a rule, select the radio button next to it and click the "-" button.

UPnP does not work with ZeroShell.

Thanks for the guide! I got it working for multi-link in VMware with a second bridged network for the second NIC+modem (protip: file > virtual network editor > host virtual network mapping). Now I don't have to hunt down a Tomato-supporting router :)

You can try connecting directly to the modem. Also, did you do step 10-12? Did you select the right network device? ZeroShell is unable to connect to the net.

I followed every single one of your steps and it worked like a charm! I'm downloading at max speed in uTorrent even though I have the RED exclamation mark indicating my port is not forwarded. Excellent instructions, so easy to follow, I really appreciate it guys! I'm guessing I have to forward the ports in my router and that should take care of the RED exclamation symbol in uTorrent.
