This line is busy... Go away disembodied voice!

This isn't really a problem, so much as it's a personal annoyance to me... Is there any way to get back the old busy signal? They changed it years back to their new busyconnect service or whatever it's called and now you get that annoying "this line is busy" bit. All I want is to hear a nice busy signal, not be told some automated system can redial some number for the next half hour, lol.

If there's no way to turn it back to the old busy signal, that's fine, but I figured I'd ask.

That must be an AT&T POTS thingy.

My AT&T CallVAntage does not do that. Unless of course, the party I am calling has call forwarding and/or voicemail and/or some other auto answer annoyance.

Oops, wait a minute, I have all of those auto answer annoyances.

I've been on BellSouth/AT&T for years, and never get anything but a plain old busy signal.

Can your issue be connected to some option you have chosen?

Ah ha! That was it. Apparently, the Repeat dialing option was auto added when they first started the service. I bet once I turn that off in the Complete Choice plan, I will get the happy busy signal again!
