Re: for anyone in the Crossett, AR area... Crossett area will get new television provider By Danielle Kloap Jan 1, 2009, 22:26
Crossett cable customers will have a new cable provider after the first quarter of the new year.
Cable South Media is purchasing certain systems of Charter Communications, including the Crossett location.
According to Glenda Elliott, Cable South business manager, the transaction will not result in a loss of jobs for the current Charter Communications employees in Crossett and the new company will keep the local office. She said that the switch from Charter Communications to Cable South will not negatively affect the cable provided to customers.
There will be no difference in the service offered now except for even better customer service, Elliott said.
Elliott said that the company is not exactly sure what will be done to the cable service in Crossett, but that it will be upgraded. The company, based in Milan, Tenn., plans to offer Internet almost immediately and add high-definition channels later, she said.
Crossett Mayor Scott McCormick said that he thinks that it is too soon to tell how this buyout will affect Crossett cable customers. He said that he heard mention of digital video recorders' and phone service's possibly being provided by Cable South. He also said that he hopes that Cable South will keep its prices comparable to the services offered.
So many folks are dissatisfied with Charters service, McCormick said. But anything with better service is a plus. |
