| U-Verse upgrades in my area causing slow downs on my DSL?
For the past 4 years I have used SBC/ATT dsl and have loved it. Recently over the past two or three weeks my internet speed as started to curve down rapidly. So much so that my 6 meg connection is averaging 30-40 KB/s when I expect 300 to 600. I can't watch streaming movies off Netflix now because of its poor quality that it now defaults to and the constant skipping.
Tonight I called support hoping that I could get some help figuring out the issue. But after 25 min on the phone the tech couldn't find anything wrong and tried to convince me that my internet was FAST enough. He later said the upgrades in the area could have caused the issue and would be fixed in a week.
I know a lot of people in the block are upgrading this week to U-Verse but would that really hurt my connection so much? I would like to believe this guy but in that same week Cox can have me up and running with internet and phone also.
Any ideas? |

| Don't listen to the idiot on the phone... U-verse is on a completely different network and can not affect your DSL. If you want to try and troubleshoot the issue here, start by posting the stats from your modem, if not I would seriously consider having a tech sent to your house.

| reply to BNagel Thanks quarkmachine that did the trick. Three full bars on Netflix and my downloads are back to normal speeds.

After the support call I really didn't think I had much choice but to jump ship. I had dusted off my old Motorola SB4200 cable modem and started planning out how I was going to set things up. I only posted here as a last ditch effort for ideas instead got a fix.
Thank You for taking time out of your day to help fix my problem. You saved me time and money. |
