Re: [Burlington] Random sound disruptions with HD channels

At this point we're considering the source based HD audio dropout issue resolved. Now that said, that doesn't mean every single Cogeco customer will never see another HD audio dropout (I wish) what this means is that at this point people still experiencing HD audio dropouts may have RF issues as root cause (versus source issues) and if that is the case we'll likely need a tech out your way to resolve.

So at this point I'd suggest we lock this thread and anyone experiencing dropouts either call in or start a new thread providing info on the relevant fields at »Have a problem? Read this before you post. -- maybe if I magically find time I'll update that to separate it into an 'Internet - have a problem...' and 'Cable TV - have a problem...' but for now I'm sure you guys can figure that out. If the source issue crops up again I'm sure we'll notice and we can start a new thread along those lines but at this point I'd rather not have people assuming this is still something we can fix without considering RF issues as it just wastes/frustrates your HD viewing time.

I had recorded a movie, about 3 days ago I'd say, on CBC.

I had 1 audio drop out throughout the entire movie, so its not completely gone but reduced a lot.

710 ctvhd not there. picture just freezes from previous channel, no sound. intermittent.

audio drops are still happening, just less frequently.

HD channels suffer the most audio drops.

(OT- SpeedHD? huh? what channel, since when?)

(OT - when are we getting more HD channels?)

If you are experiencing audio and video breakup then i would contact the call center for troubleshooting, or if you know how to check the dct diags for uncorrectable errors and the levels to the box for signal issues
I'm still having them with Speed HD. Not only is it dropping audio, the video will flicker to a black screen constantly for about 30 seconds.

In-Band Status shows a SNR of 34.5 dB and 0 uncorrectable errors.

i believe its looking good so far!

I'm still keeping a watch for drop-outs, not only on HD channels but on SD as well.

So far I don't believe I've heard any - though I'm not sure if its just that I'm so used to the drop outs now :P

update: issue should be fixed, if you are still experiencing the audio (only, and only on the HD channels) dropouts then i would advise to open a new ticket with the call center.

Personally i have not had the issue in a while with audio drop outs.

If you are experiencing audio and video breakup then i would contact the call center for troubleshooting, or if you know how to check the dct diags for uncorrectable errors and the levels to the box for signal issues

Wow...tried on Sun nite to watch Entourage on HBO, and I think it was on 228 or some such # here in Waterdown....

and it never ever played for more than 2 to 3 secs...then black screen or BADLY pixelated...then played with audio late...then black screen etc etc.

couldn't watch the show! boy am I upset....but judging by ALL the other comments here, I'm not alone so I doubt it's my own setup or wiring here....

sigh...anyone know - Krispy? - when will this be addressed

???

The sound and now video is worsening of late, I'm now downloading the shows from the iNet and watching them form the HTPC's around the house instead of recording or watching live. Excellent progress yet again Cogeco Soon enough I won't need Cable service at all Save me a bundle !

Speed was completely unwatchable earlier today. Sound was cutting out every minute or so.

Not sure how much longer I can take this.

So, I'm not sure if this might be only me but recently the drops started becoming more frequent; And pretty much every time I watch a show on The Discovery (Standard/NON-HD ...) I get auto drop outs.

So....answer is?

IE is there a timeline for this as yet? or just "we're still looking into it..."

There's still no definitive "This will be resolved on..." date yet but I'll ask again. At this point I believe we're still collecting info, working with our provider (aka: source) and discussing it at a high level - it's just one of those things that there isn't a flip-this-switch type of solution for. I feel your pain though, drives me crazy as well so I've been annoying those that are responsible for this issue on behalf of both BBR and myself and if I thought anything more could be done right now I'd either be doing it or annoying people into doing it so....
