I didn't notice a single dropout during House in HD tonight. I've yet to watch my recording of Two and a Half Men HD, but I'll report back on it later.

(Off topic: Any word on getting Spike HD anytime soon? Spike's SD feed is just... abysmal. It is horribly pixelated, it always has faded green bands across the picture and it is very washed out. No other channel is like that)
My fingers are still crossed! I had a one second drop tonight, but it was on SD and I'm pretty sure it was due to slightly loosening the COAX while mucking about with the 5.1 receiver today, tightened everything up fingertight and all is well so far

Offtopics: I can see if I can find anything out about SpikeHD when on *ugh dayshift Thursday and Friday. Have you called into complain about the SD? I don't watch that station in my daily Stargate viewings, however will try to keep an eye on it from work.

While putting in 5.1, I also put in a power bar with Coax protection. VOD / HSI is working ok, but I'm still uneasy about running the main coax line through a power bar.. However, my apt. has no 3 prong outlets, and plugging in the coax was the only way to make the 'ungrounded' alarm light go off on the bar (but only works if plugged in one direction. if i turn it over in the wall outlet, then the grounded light will never go out. I guess it's 'out of phase' when plugged in the other way, ...explains the shocks for last 5 years...)

I haven't bothered calling in because I don't think it's a Cogeco specific issue. I seem to remember it being relatively the same when we were with Bell, though I didn't watch it as often then. It's also just a pain in the arse always seeing all these adverts on the channel about their shows airing in HD... and not being able to watch them

The problems on Spike are especially noticeable when there's darker pictures on the screen (I tend to watch CSI on Spike all the time, so that's pretty well always), you can really see the green horizontal bands.

As for the power bar, just put a piece of electrical tape over the light

Never hurts to call in though, it helps to track customer impact (regardless of where the fault lies).

With my new power bar grounding through the coax, I can now touch my HD receiver or desktop PC without getting a crazy shock.. I've been bitching about these shocks for at least 5 years to the landlord, went through 3-4 PC power supplies in as much time too. Bonus!!

I am still having drops. Maybe not as frequently as before, but there are still drops. Was watching a recorded CSI NY on CTV had 1 or 2 drops.

Yeah I'm still getting them too so I'll see if I can get a new update. As I stated earlier the fault is not on Cogeco equipment or network so the most we can do is yell and threaten (which I'm sure we are) but unfortunately we can't lay hands on equipment to resolve...I'm not saying that as an excuse or anything, just letting you know what's going on.

I had a ton of problems on my Simpsons recording. Missed the 9:00 show so recorded the one from FOX West and there were a ton of audio blips.

My guess is it's now a FOX problem because when I watch Hockey Central @ Noon on Sportsnet HD I no longer get audio blips.

For what it's worth the 9PM Simpsons on Sunday night was fine in HD, I recorded it and just watched it last night and no drops.

I'm still getting them, but they are less frequent and they don't last as long as they use too.

Had a few audio drop outs watching House last night on showcase. I'm sure prison break tomorrow will have a few as well. It's not too bad maybe one or two per hour but still annoying. Now fox west I don't even waste my time with that. I forgot to record a show and tried to use fox west later to record it and every 20 seconds it had an audio drop out.

I don't know what to think anymore. Things were starting to look better, but then I tried watching CSI:NY and Southland on the western CBS and NBC feeds tonight, no freaking way - no freaking how.

The picture was freezing up and audio losing sync several times per minute. I don't know who's end this problem was on, but it doesn't matter at this point. Fact is it would have been fine if I was watching OTA for free.

Cogeco needs to get this crap fixed up. The service does not justify the cost.

Drops are even occurring on SD channels, much much fewer than HD though.

I'm not saying it's the same issue, but it is an issue and it needs to be fixed. I recorded Flashpoint on CBS West last night - same problem.

And it seems we were just a bit lucky with the audio drops these past few days, as we're getting them frequently again.

(And yes, our signal is perfect)

im sure it is, and thats why every single other person in the cogeco serviced area isnt reporting the same thing....

have you had a tech come look at your issues, or are you just going by the "i think cogeco sucks so it must be there end, never on my end" rule?

Ah, never get enough of that classic sarcasm.

How 'bout before you try and sound all smart you do a bit of research on the subject first? Just because you don't necessarily see others posting about the issues here on DSLR doesn't mean I'm the only one experiencing them.

Here, read up: »www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthr···t=106135

And no I haven't had a tech come to look at my house. Why? Because all of our boxes are reporting a "Good" signal. All that tech would do is run a few tests on the line only to get the same results. He might swap a splitter here and there and change some cables, maybe even replace a receiver if he feels like it, but you know damn well that it's not an issue on our end - that things would be the exact same afterwards.

It's a waste of time, for both me and the tech.

And right now the only reason I think Cogeco sucks is because we're paying $110/mo for half-assed cable service. If ever the service starts working as it should and we get our money's worth, then I won't think it sucks anymore - but until then, yeah, it sucks - badly.

If we pay $110/mo for all of the added benefits that Digital Cable Television is suppose to provide us with, but don't receive the favor in return, why in the hell shouldn't I think the service sucks?

To make matters worse, we've been promised twice that this damn sound drop issue would be fixed and it still evidently is not.

We could change providers, but we're just going to get screwed over some new and exciting way. I'm tired of taking it up the ass. That's what everybody always does and thats why service here never progresses.

Just look south of the border, they're running on top notch FTTH networks with premium service and about 10X the amount of HD content we have here (literally), all for a fraction of the cost.

From what I can see Cogeco needs to start leaning hard on Rogers AKA "The Source" or the people they get their feed through, so that this problem can be fixed in the short term.

If Rogers is going to give Cogeco the run around then maybe it's time for Cogeco to get the lawyers out and start putting some pressure on Rogers. Oh and in the meantime maybe Cogeco could start offing a decent rebate to their customers for the poor service.

Ya I know I'm dreaming!!! but sometimes it's nice to vent.

Well May 9th has come and gone, and still have audio drop-outs on HD and some SD channels. In fact we have had 2 different techs here in 2 days, but we continue to have problems.

WHEN THE HELL IS COGECO GOING TO PULL THEIR COLLECTIVE HEADS OUT OF THEIR ASSES, AND FIX THIS ALREADY.

Well according to Krispy the problem lies at the "Source" which in this case is "Rogers" whom Cogeco gets their feed from. So until Rogers gets the problem fixed, we as the Cogeco customer are basically screwed!!!!

At the moment things do seem better than they were but dropouts are still occuring and it would be nice if we could get some type of update.
