This does a parametric test of the line. As a back of the envelop multiplying downstream attenuation by 250 gives you some idea. Keep in mind distance is a function of type of wire used and bridged taps.

I've never noticed any noise on the line, no. |

How can I tell that I'm close to the office...is it because the attenuation is under 20? |

| reply to LeftyJR Your stats are bizarre. Based on Attenuation you are just about on top of the Central Office yet margin is very low.
Connecting modem to NID as Jodokast96 suggest disconnects inside wiring/equipment. If stats improve something within your residence is degrading DSL.
How is phone service? Any noise on line especially when phone first picked up? Do you hear other voices on the line (crosstalk). If so call Voice repair, not Verizon on line to fix service.

Is there any way to improve this upstream? I am paying for the 3mbps package. |
