Re: [XP Pro] Windows Update install Ideacom software

Some people on this board crack me up. A giant conspiracy by Microsoft to ruin computers? Average grandma's being victimized by Microsoft?

This update only appears if you do the custom scan on Microsoft/Windows Update. It was not offered to me over Automatic Updates (which most people use) and its not offered when you do the "Express" Windows Update scan. So for an attempt to take over the world, this is a pretty poor attempt.

Step away from the tinfoil.
On Vista, it is mistakenly offered "Automatically."

Looks like MS pulled the update, it no-longer shows here.

I was never even offered this update on XP64 when it first came out. Performed a custom scan and nothing came up.

It came up on my wife's Vista Home Premium laptop, but not on my Vists Home Premium desktop.

I just checked my Windows Update history and that little gem was installed on my Windows Vista Premium desktop machine 2 days ago (Jan. 14) as well. It is listed as "optional" but I didn't elect to install it. It was 1 of 5 updates that were installed automatically.

That said, though, it doesn't seem to be causing any conflicts, so far...
