The truth

Well the truth is that, Xplornet does have control over your speeds i was told by one of there reps, once you ve used your limit they "Throttle" u down. Not only is this robbery its also a privacy matter, the same rep told me i did a bunch of downloading between 10 and 11 am on tuesday, now if they can tell me that what other information do these reps have access to. I have cancelled my xpornet after learning they are no better than common criminals, everybody else good luck to you and be careful.

I started using xplornet wireless about six moths ago and for the avg user who likes to surf the web and download a few things, the service sure beats dialup, if thats your only other option. BUT, as for my personal experience with them, I'd have to say, they are full of crap. Before agreeing to any install, I called the local installer as well as the support center several times. I was told it would cost 99.00 for installation and 49.95 a month for a 3 mbps down and 600 kbps up. I know what questions to ask so I inquired about file sharing and they said, they allowed it but depending on what tower you're on there might be some thottling. Seemed ok to me and I gave them the OK to go ahead and install. A couple days later a young peep shows up and mounts the array on my roof, the tower only several KM from the house. He runs a speed test and shows me that watching online video works good. I give him the 100 bucks for installion and off he goes. After a quick look at what i got,I find myself very unsatisified. It's a local area connection, with a some kind of router, I suppose at the tower, which I can not access. I'm a Dhcp client, with no external ip adrress, all ports are blocked. The maximum download speed, tcp, is 800 kbps. Although speed tests show 80% of what I was accually offered. Uploads speed is so slow, I could walk the packets to thier desination faster. When I call those bunch a fookers, they try and run me around, probally some answering service that don't know dic about what I'm refering to, and don't give a dam. Sure enough p2p transfers are thottled, upload rate is 14.5 KB/s and if I maintain that upload rate, no one else on my home network can connect, they time out. It would also seem that the connection resets every 60 minutes approx, so if you're doing something that requires a lenthy session, you'll have to reconfigure your methods. At the end of the month, I checked my bank account and they had removed 50.00 over and above the connection fee. When I called them about that, once again I was given the run around. All perfectly ok cause I haven't paid the connection fee in six months, I'm waiting for them to call me and we'll see who runs who around best. With other services now available inth is area, they can kiss my area where the sun don't shine. But not a bad service really for those who don't reqiure the odd ftp transfer ,, really!

I have been using xplornet for 2.5 years now and I am P/O with their poor service and their unfair business practice of reducing your bandwidth during the peak usage period 2 pm to 10pm. They do monitor your activity and when the support center is called, they do nothing to fix the problem they have created. Tonight I was told my download speed was reduced to DIAL UP SPEED, 25K, in the middle of a business project. I am paying $99.00 per month for this crap. I am reducing my plan back to the basic and in another 6 months, I will be free of this BS. There were no other options so I was forced to use these CROOKS!!!! There is another option in our area now. THANK GOD. I will be switching to them in the Summer. BYE BYE RIP OFF AND CON ARTISTS. I guess there is rampant dissatisfied customers when the answer you are given when asking for the name of the president or CEO is,find it on the internet!!!! " I am not allowed to tell you who is the president of Xplornet" was the exact answer. Their customer complaint department is a PO Box in Woodstock New Brunswick. I suggest you think twice or possible 3 or 4 times before signing up with these hoodlums.
