Jet is now charging for bandwidth overage

Ever since Jet's reign of terror began and they imposed this archaic 100GB limit on accounts I've never been charged for going over. I consistently use (more like USED now), around 160 or so GB a month, and nothing was ever said and I was never charged even though their website said that it was 15 bucks for ever 20GB over. However, about a year ago I went crazy downloading and hit almost 350GB. They called and asked why I was using so much bandwidth. I promised cut back and that was that. No charges or anything.

So I got my bill this month and it's unusually high. A closer look reveals that I was charged 45 dollars extra for going over 60GB. I mean, come on folks, 160GB isn't really all that much. Yeah it's pretty heavy usage, but I'm already paying 60 a month for just the Internet. Isn't that enough? Hell, I'd even pay 75 a month if they'd raise the cap to 250GB like Comcast. Make it totally unlimited and I'll pay 100.

Comcast has a 250GB limit which in my mind is totally fair. I think what Jetbroadband is doing should be illegal. For many people like myself that have no other Internet alternatives they are taking advantage of us. I hope that someday soon the government will step in and requlate how much these crooks can take from us. Who is to stop them from making that 100GB into 10GB or even 1GB? They can do what they want and it chaps my ass to the core. I guess their stocks are going in the shitter like everyone elses and they're just passing the buck and decided to start charging. Assholes.

The government needs to put a download speed to bandwidth cap ratio law into place. What I mean is that there should be rules saying that if you are paying for a certian download speed, you are allowed a minimum amount of monthly bandwidth. More simply, the faster your speed, the more bandwidth you're allowed. In my mind I think that the monthly bandwidth cap should be no lower 20 percent of the download speed running 24/7 for the entire month. Do the math on a 5Mb line and that comes out to just over 300GB. That's very reasonable and IMO, if you use more than that, you SHOULD be charged. But these wimpy caps Jet has are ridiculous. Until the government regulates these thieves, they won't stop.

I got a flyer saying that Mach III is going to 8Mb. Yippee, now I can reach 100GB even faster than before. I guarantee they won't make the cap any higher.

Common sense tells us that instead of buying more bandwidth to provide for their customers, they are simply cutting down everyones allowance of bandwidth so there is more to go around and they can sell to more subscribers. They're watering down the soup if you will.

Fucking thieves. Burn in Hell.

At least we've got a young bright president on the way that knows about things like Net Neutrality. Maybe things will finally change. On the bright side, at least we didn't end up with Grandpa McCain and Sally the Stewardess.

Please don't take this post as someone who supports traffic caps...I think the whole premise is stupid, and unfair to consumers. But saying that, you should see if they would allow you to move to a commercial tier. For 100 bucks you get 150GB, and for 150 (I know that is a lot of money), you get 300GB. Not saying that is a good solution, but you should see which costs more, the plan, or your overages that you are paying now.

Moving out of the city, I believe the biggest loss I suffered was the lack of high speed internet options. It's either Jet..or...
