I have a new email address!

You can now email me at: john.england19@yahoo.in

Dear, friend

I am John England, an Army contractor attached to the US Military force in Iraq .The reason why I’m explaining my finding to you is to seek for your assistance to enable you contributes immensely to the actualization of this deal. On great day, me and one of men, we were alerted on the need of some reconstruction works in Haifa Street , a long thoroughfare of high-rise buildings built and occupied by Saddam Hussein when he was alive here in Baghdad . Immediately we proceeded to the site and as we commence work to our utmost surprise we discovered an underground bunker in one of the buildings. Upon investigation of the bunker to our surprise we discovered two boxes safely hidden and sealed, I told my men to open the boxes in order to find out the contents and when the boxes were opened to our amazement the boxes contained some US Dollars which amounted to $23.2M after I and one of the men counted them. I however instructed him to keep this in high secrecy so that we can have the money to our selves, he agreed to the plan and we were going to get the money out of the country but first we had to hide the money in a safe and untraceable location. I am now in desperate need of a? Reliable and Trustworthy? Person like you who would receive, secure and protect these boxes containing the US Dollars for me up on till my assignment elapses here. We cannot leave the boxes here in Iraq for any reason since Iraq is getting unsafe and dangerous everyday. I assure and promise to give you 10% of this fund, however feel free to negotiate what you wish to have as your percentage in this deal. Please assure me of your keeping this topmost secret within you so that my job would not be jeopardized .I am quite sure that you must have come across similar emails before in your day to day email address trying to introduce you to an agreement with an individual. I wish to agree with you that it is quite natural to be defensive in your response to such an email. But allow me to go into the details of this offer before you decide weather its actually genuine or not. The basis for this email is to convince you of the originality of this proposal coming from me, because from all intents and purposes, my situation has reached such a stage that if I do not act fast, somebody else will definitely make a move to profit in this venture that I would have actually benefited from. In as much as I would have wanted to benefit alone, its actually impossible to do this because as an army contractor employee, I can only facilitate the movement of this funds from the? Inside, while, a trusted partner of mine handles the? Outside? Angle of it by claiming and receiving this on our behalf. Therefore, my getting in touch with you is of great importance. My Sincere regards, Mr. John England

Re: New angle on Nigerian-like scams

What is the new angle ? Yahoo has been an open relay for Nigerian spam for quite awhile. Several months ago I requested that SmarterMail include the entire header chain in their source IP filtering instead of just the most recent sender in the chain. Still no luck.

It's not new, but I haven't seen it in a long time.

The last time I saw that type of email was back in 2003 when a group of American soldiers found millions of dollars in one of Saddam's palaces and it was all over the news (didn't a few of them get sent back to the U.S after it was found that some of the soliders tried stealing some of the money?)

Then the e-mails started up.

I gues they are either getting desperate, or lazy and are sending out older emails.

A couple of local radio guys have been "playing" with a similar scammer since Halloween.
