 | Zyxel IES-1000 Hi,
I'm just wondering if you can connect a DSL modem directly to this DSLAM or if you need to have ATM circuitry in between?
I am thinking about getting this with an ADSL 2+ card to integrate into my lab at home which will simulate an ISP and hence teach me a bit more about DSL technology practically.
I have checked the price and it's not too expensive so really wanted to know if I could hook up my spare DSL modem with no extra pieces of kit?
Obviously I have a network with a proper router which is growing as I do more things with it.
Many thanks |

 | Yes, but the IES-1000 is just the chassis ie the IES-1000M, make sure you get the correct module also. AAM-XXXX or SAM-XXXX, where AAM is the ADSL module and SAM is the SHDSL module. -- "Perl is executable line noise, Python is executable pseudo-code."

 | Thanks for that but I did mention that I was going to use the ADSL 2+ module for it, being the AAM1212-xx.
All I really want to know is if I can connect this device to my router at one end with an IP address using the 100Mbps uplink in the module and dish out another IP address to an ADSL modem being directly connected to the AAM1212 card, through use of the proper D type multi-pin telco connector to RJ11. Since the AAM1212 doesn't have RJ11's directly on the module itself. |

 | That works fine, I got the same setup sometimes running on my living room floor
The AAM module is basically a switch with DSL ports and an ethernet port as uplink. -- "Perl is executable line noise, Python is executable pseudo-code."
