Take note: 1x support only for data

The femtocell being offered doesn't do EVDO data speeds. It is 1x only for data.

Of course, if you are home, presumably you wouldn't be using most data capabilities of a cellphone(except maybe texting) and would be using your home computer instead. But I guess sending someone attached pics from the cellphone would just have to go at the lower data speeds on the femtocell.

What about my Blackberry?

Keep in mind that Verizon is now the largest carrier with the most Blackberry users.

I'm assuming you can sync data from your Blackberry to your home computer. Is that incorrect?

If you can sync, then the need to use the Blackberry at high speeds while in the home is lessened.

Incorrect, because my Blackberry is used for work, which is not available on my home PC.

Blackberry will do just fine on 1x if you are using it for email.

My work provided AT&T blackberry is on EDGE and I have no problems other than AT&T's lack of coverage in many areas.

I bought the Blackberry because of all of it's features, not just email. As many have said, sell me services and features that I can actually use please!

Well it is quite possible that future versions of the femtocells will probably have support for EvDO.

but if part of the reasoning for this thing is to reduce teh amount of useage of the toweres then it makes sense that they would want things like pics to be going over the internet and not the towers. If I'm going to send someone pics and all I get is 1X speed from the femtocell them I'll just shut it off and use EVDO. Then I'm increasing congestion on the towers which is the opposite of what Charter wants.

No EVDO? I'm out. The only reason I'd even consider it is to boost Internet speeds on our BlackBerries while at home. Our house is on the fringe for EVDO which often results in data speeds dropping back to 1x. Signal strength is otherwise OK; good enough for voice and basic data (i.e. SMS text messaging). Calls are seldom dropped. Pass.
