Re: funny. Yes, they should give it to us - we would be paying for their backhaul and giving them the power and space for their cell site AND we get to pay them for this?!!!
This encourages them not to build out more sites to try to reach into buildings.
I'd much rather use a repeater, it's less expensive, no recurring fees, and no load on your Internet connection.
After having to put in about $1000 worth of antenna, amplifier, data card, etc. to barely get EVDO (sometimes) (with a 5GB cap at $60/month) (because Verizon doesn't offer DSL in the area and dialup is so noisy and has load coils so that you can't get more than about 21kbps) I'm not inclined to give them this charity.
On top of that their smartphones won't do WiFi and their femtocells won't do EVDO?!!!
The only reason that I see to get this is if I was stuck in a building where I couldn't put in a repeater at all or somewhere in the sticks where there was no reception and I had plenty of Internet bandwidth. Even so, purchasing one of these encourages Verizon not to provide better coverage.
Whoever thought up the idea to charge for this must be giggling constantly about what can be put over on consumers. |
