Re: [Vista] Icon Change Question

I read the post as "I have files that have a certain icon associated with it and want to change to something else".

To the best of my knowledge, the ability to easily change disappeared in Vista (although it can probably be done if you know where to go in the Registry).

Right click on the present icon, choose Properties... There's a button to change it with.
For discussion purposes, how would the OP go about finding the icon associated with the file type?

That would only be valid if it were, say, a *.doc format, and it would have to be a shortcut to do so. I haven't found a way to choose an icon in the registry yet.

You can change the file association to a particular format, i.e. a .tif to open with Photoshop. and it would then show the associated icon if the program were installed.
