xdoboy join:2009-01-21 Santa Ana, CA | Motorola internet modem 2210-02-1002 and Linksys WRT54G Hey guys, can you guys help me out with this. I currently have AT&T DSL internet with a Motorola internet modem (model# 2210-02-1001). The internet works fine when I just hook up the modem to the computer. Now I want to hook up my Linksys WRT54G router with the internet modem in order for me to play my PS3. The problem is that when I do the setup for the router, it says I'm currently not connected to the internet. I've seen a few other posts that said to put the modem in "bridged mode." After the modem is in "bridged mode" and connected with my router, I'm able to surf the web. When I try to wireless connect the router to my PS3, it detects an IP address but not an internet connection. Can someone people help me on how I work the modem and router in order for me to play online with my PS3?
(Before I had a speedstream internet modem hooked up with the same linksys router and the internet connection with the PS3 worked fine. After the modem broke down I got the crappy Motorola internet modem and it started to give me problems)
*Few questions* Which routers are compatible to the Motorola internet modem 2210-02-1002?
Is there another type of DSL internet modem I can buy instead of a Motorola brand?
Can a PS3 work with any router that is connected to an internet modem by "bridged mode"?
Please respond, I've been wanting to play online with my PS3 again for a long time. Thank you guys for your cooperation. |

Basically you don't put the modem in a bridge mode but select PPP is on the computer and reconfigure your router LAN IP, etc.

There is also this PS3 troubleshooting guide that you may want to look at assuming you can get to the public internet from your other clients, ie. wireless laptops or desktops....

xdoboy join:2009-01-21 Santa Ana, CA | reply to xdoboy So after I select PPP is on the computer, do I run the router setup CD and set it up? Or do I just connect the DSL modem to the router's WAN port.
Thanks a lot guys appreciate it. |

ff1324Everybody Goes HomePremium join:2002-08-24 On Four Day | Once you select PPP on the computer, follow the directions for the router's setup. I believe on the Linksys, you run the disk before you do anything else and follow the prompts.
I suggest running the disk since you seem like you may not be familiar with some of the settings. If I'm mistaken, I apologize. -- Remember the 2008 firefighters and police LODD's in St. Louis: PO Ballman, Sgt. Biggs, FF Hummert, Sgt. King, FF Riggins... all murdered...RIP brothers. |

Those should be used as examples for the OP. Obviously the WRT54G interface is different.
I had step-by-step, or close to it, instructions in that thread. -- "When all else fails, read the instructions..." MS-MVP Windows Desktop User Experience |

Thank you |

wayjacPremium,MVM join:2001-12-22 Indy | With the linksys set to do the PPPoE
And the motorola modem set to either: PPP is on the computer OR Bridged Mode(PPPoE is not used)
You will be able to connect to the internet |

Did you change the routers LAN IP to something other than 192.168.1.254, ie. 192.168.2.254 for example. You can't keep the router in the same subnet as the modem.
Not having a WRT54G I do see a potential problem. I am not sure the DHCP server range of addresses changes if you change the routers LAN IP. It looks hard coded in this screen shot. If that is the case that will be problematic. More than likely though that will change once you change the LAN IP and save the settings.
That screen shot is from the Linksys GUI emulator at...
»ui.linksys.com/files/WRT54G/
Run an ipconfig from the command line a PC or laptop connected to the router and post what IP your getting assigned?
Lastly there is also the BBR Linksys forum for specific help with your router setup...
