Re: Always been this way I live in a semi-rural area. It is actually pretty rural for NJ.
I am really glad we have no sewers. It increases your taxes and I have heard horror stories about it overflowing. Yes, septic tanks overflow but they're in your yard and under your control.
I couldn't really care either way about water. I have a well which has no water mains to break and no water company to tell me I'm using too much water. The downside is that the well has a lot of iron but I filter it out with a softener and filter. My water actually tests better than city water in some places.
I wish we had natural gas but to be honest propane in our propane tank is doing fine. It gets a bit expensive but c'est la vie. I also don't have to worry about the gas being shut off due to some widespread emergency such as a pipeline explosion.
Fewer people means less traffic and lower crime.
Fewer kids in the schools means lower property taxes. It's still NJ so it's still high, but lower than most other towns.
I have DOCSIS 3 cable, and about 40 HD channels. That's enough for me quite honestly. If Service Electric adds Discovery and Science channel HD I don't think I'd need anything else. If I want more HD I can go to DirecTV.
I do want fiber to the home, but moving out of my semi-rural area just isn't worth it. |

 | It's the people you know that kill you. So don't feel safe out there. |
