Go to this site, »www.talentchic.com/ ,pick you class and choose the most popular build. Problem solved.
Quoted from their website
"How We Find The Most Popular Talent Builds To find the most popular talent builds, the system scans both the US and EU WoW armory sites to find the talent points chosen by characters. It then sorts those according class, spec and playstyle and collates the results.
We dont just look at any old character though! We have spent the last few months finding the best players in all parts of the game (according to their gear). Since patch 3.0.2 released, we have furiously been scanning the armory to find what talent specs these top players have chosen.
While were looking at gear, we also record each characters playstyle (where most of their gear has come from) because a talent spec can change between PvE and PvP. You can use this as a filter to find the most appropriate build for you.
We continually scan the armory and update the popularity score of the most popular builds hourly. If youd like to keep track of changes to the most popular build for your class and spec, please click on the Watch this list for changes link on the main site.
Currently only the top level 70 players are scanned. Once Wrath of the Lich King is released, and the level cap has increased to 80, this site will also keep track of the leveling builds used on the way to 80, as well as the level 80 raiding and PvP builds." |

| reply to Bob the Bobster Hey, i've read most of this thread and have been trying out a few specs.. Currently my spec is the new favored 17/51/3 spec.
I personally like it but the WWS is whats unsettling me. I'm pushing roughly 3.5-4 in 25mans which to me isn't enough with my current gear..
My armory is »www.wowarmory.com/character-shee···Babyfear
and the rotation im sticking to right now is
IT > PS > BS > BT > OB > OB > FS (rune dump)
Who wants to help me ? |

Alright. If you want to go Blood DPS, here's your choices:
51/2/18 - Dancing Rune Weapon »www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMVh0I···c:GLIMmV
50/0/21 - Unholy Blight »www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMVh0I···z:GLIMmV
Now, there are some aruable point mixes in Blood, namely Bloodworms & Vampiric Blood. Some people like putting these into Rune Tap, Mark of Blood, or any combination of which, but everything else is pretty cookie-cutter standard. I use the choices I list there (Vampiric Blood & Bloodworms) because I don't finding myself needing multiple "oh s***" buttons. The extra DPS & mitigation of Bloodworms were worth it in my opinion.
As for which of the two specs to use, again, it's your call. It comes down to playstyle and possibly Glyph avaliability. Do you like constantly having steady damage up (Unholy Blight) or mass temporary damage every minute or two (Dancing Rune Weapon)? Hit the target test dummies and find out which works best for you. Personally, I went DRW because it times very well for my uber DPS macro (Hysteria + DRW + DPS Trinket).
Also, as a side note, for the Unholy Blight spec, wether or not you want to max Necrosis or Ravenous Dead is argueable. +4% auto attack damage vs. +1% Strength is really too close to call.
PS. Feel free to link your armory if you want me to give it a gander. Also, if you're running Blood DPS, please do use the appropriate cycles.
PS > IT > HS > HS > DS > DCx1 -or- UB DS > HS > HS > HS > HS > DCx2
Massage the death coils according to your rune cooldowns at the time, and never deathcoil yourself under 25 runic energy (screws up the +% Death Strike damage glyph bonus). |

Not quite in a place to agree with ya there yet. My guild's being quite anal with their 10-man progression before they're hitting Ulduar, so I can't tell you if there's anything really fresh yet (and this server's also pretty inept at fielding PUG Naxx 25 man, so I'm not holding my breath for PUG Ulduar). But, from what I've heard, basically the die-hard raiders got their wish. |

| reply to help lol Dear anonymous,
Firstly, focus on getting your hit rating via enchantments, gems, and drops to as close to 300 as possible.
Secondly, google "dps DK help" or "DK pre-raid gear" or something related to get a good idea of the available gear out there. Start doing daily quests for the different factions--all of them have different gear and enchantments that can advance what you have.
Make friends with a reliable tank or healer and start running heroic dungeons to get the possible drops out there. This will be your biggest source of advancement--wearing tabards will advance your reputation for every mob/boss you kill and you'll get drops.
As for rotations, pick a tree you like (blood has self-healing and huge single target crits, frost capitalizes on Obliterate and Howling Blast mechanics and Unholy has all the little DoTs that add up to massive damage) and run with it.
Your usual rotation goes something like this:
Icy Touch, Plague Strike, blood rune strike (blood strike or Heart Strike if blood) x2, then Death Strike (blood), Obliterate (frost), or Scourge Strike (unholy). Then dump your runic power thru death coils (blood), frost strikes (frost), or Unholy Blight (Unholy, then death coils when it's up.
Pick talents in your tree that turn the other runes into death runes so you can use your tree's special strikes with those runes.
Each tree has special abilities: Blood has a Dancing Rune Weapon that copies your attacks, and Hysteria that increases your damage at cost to your health. Frost has Howling Blast, an attack that can crit on any mob close for massive damage. Unholy has a permanent pet, Unholy Blight (damages any enemy close), an extra disease, and a Gargoyle.
Each class also can buff your entire group or raid: Blood has Abomination's Might (+10% strength). Frost has Icy Talons (I think that's the name)-- +20% melee haste. Unholy has a third disease that increases all magic attacks against the target by 13% (casters will love you).
Anyways... there's a primer. |

| reply to pwrtoppl I have been levelling my DK using the desise less rotation. Since obliterate has been nrefed - lost 9% crit with blood specc - I kept using a desise less rotation with Death Strike insted og Obliterate. My dps actually increased and on elite mobs - I keep desises up and heals myself easily with DS.
I thought DK was nerfed in this patch but blood has been buffed |

I was averaging 3k dps on the raid boss target dummies (though granted, they were at ~1 hp, so diseases didn't tick right) in both specs and consider myself decently geared (Deathaxe on Mal'Ganis). are you going up against the boss dummy? or level 80 dummies? cause the numbers do change between the two |

| reply to Ghastlyone I'm currently using a 17/51/3 spec. I'm torn between that and 51/2/18.
In some relatively quick testing (~3-4 minutes on a raid-level dummy) I find that they are roughly the same dps with the frost build being ever so slightly more dps. That is without using Hysteria, which, over 3 minutes, would probably balance it out.
Right now I can't find the HB glyph or the DRW glyph, so that would impact overall dps. Right now I'm doing:
IT > BS > HB > OB > FS dump
I want to change that to: HB > OB > BSx2 > FS dump || HB > OBx2 > FS dump.
2 things out of curiosity for blood, though:
1) What rotation are you using to get 4k dps on a non-heroic target dummy? I was averaging 3k dps on the raid boss target dummies (though granted, they were at ~1 hp, so diseases didn't tick right) in both specs and consider myself decently geared (Deathaxe on Mal'Ganis).
2) Is anyone using Obliterate over Death Strike as blood? I did some testing on the PTR and on live and they both push roughly the same dps overall though OB is more than DS by a small amount, which seems to be made up with the extra disease dmg. I'm largely curious if one will eventually show a distinct advantage over the other as gear scales. |

| reply to Thaler said by Thaler :said by Ghastlyone :I spec'd last night another 51/0/20 build. Outta curiocity, how goes your RP when dumping? I went 51/2/18 so that I consistently have enough RP that DS doesn't dwaddle on me (and the +3 sec on DRW ain't bad either!). I didn't really see any "must grab" talents in unholy that made me look back on 51/0/20. To be honest...with having the 4set Tier7 bonus, I can never seem to get rid of runic power fast enough.
Soon as I can get my hands on a DRW glyph, that talent will be really nice. |
