HB= Howling Blast, a talented spell.
Rime is a talent that does two things: 1) increases your crit chance by 15% (3/3) for Icy Touch and Obliterate and 2) a 15% chance (proc) to cause your next Howling Blast to consume no runes.

whats the macro you use to put Blood tap into your blood strike? can you paste it for me?

I'm actually using 21/50/0 spec, using unholy presence. What latency would be good for blood presence? I'm usually in the 150ish ms and I end up doing more dps with unholy for some reason. I'll give blood presence a try on my next Naxx 25, but any advice regarding 21/50 UP VS 17/54 BP?

Depends on your rotation. Are you spamming IT, or going with the standard 2H frost rotation? 21/50 is virtually the same as 17/54, with a few minor changes.

I mathed this out on the EJ forums with Blood presence versus Unholy Presence.

I was initially on the UP presence side. The math basically says that when you have 8 GCD's per rotation, UP wins by 4% and gains as the GCD's per rotation increaess.

BP wins at 7 GCD's.

1. IT
2. BS
3. OB
4. OB
5. FS
6. FS
7. FS

(BT doesn't trigger GCD). Howling Blast has a 15% chance to proc per rotation.

Therefore, Blood Presence is best.

I'm still wondering if 32/39 DW spec is better than the 2h frost dps spec 17/54?, and at the start of the thread you said blood 2h dps was the best then 3 pages later its now 2h frost? xDD

It's gear dependant. If you lack the uber sigil and an uber 2H, DW is probably better.

Hey Arch,

I've actually been following the Frost spec on elitest jerks. I myself haven't tested it out; I just haven't had time. Now that you've used it for a few runs, do you prefer it over blood? Just curious.

Not sure what my preference is. I would say that I like it over disease blood, but I did enjoy diseaseless blood a bit. When 3.1 hits, if they nerf diseaseless, Frost may still be good to go. Although, if they force everyone to use Plague Strike, I may just go back to Unholy.

Could you give me an estimate of how much dps I would be pulling 10man naxx Patchwerk? with 17/54 and in my current gear?

Replace your Sigil with an Icy Touch Sigil and go with an ITx6 rotation

OBx2, HSx2, RP Dump
ITx6 (using Frost Strike to keep from capping out)

At your gear level, I would probably go Unholy, not frost.

alright arch, since you seem to have a new spec and rotation, do you find better dps then the ol 51/0/20 spec?

51/0/20 vs. 17/54/0. Blood has more burst. Blood has bigger numbers. I rarely see anything above 10k in raids as frost. Frost has good AoE, but it's clunky. Unholy's AoE is more passive or more DoT based. Frost AoE requires changing rotations around maximizing Howling Blast. Blood still managed massive single target damage and the Heart Strike Cleave was usually enough to compete against other AoE folks. The only thing Frost really has over the other specs is Frost Strike. It's the best RP Dump available.

I'll probably swap to Unholy soon, since they seem to be putting top numbers out on hardmode Sarth... and that's basically all that's left for us right now is 3D Sarth. We did 2D Sarth rather easily.

I like so many things in each tree, it's rough to decide which spec to stay.

well, after going unholy with dread and widows fury, i have found unholy to be a bit circumstancial for me...not that im saying unholy is bad, plenty of people can get their dps out fast. but the reason i asked about frost is because, i was wondering how it held up against bosses, as i am not worried so much about trash (due to some good aoes from rogues, locks n mages) my group clears trash fast enough, i just want to see which spec does more on a benchmark to someone like...patchwerk. i went unholy against him last week in 25 man and did #1. and this week i went back to blood, where ill be testing the ol blood rotation against him and see if the numbers change with the same gear and buffs (benchmark testing)

ill let you all know what comes up (of course weapons change from dw to 2hander)
