| Re: Mid-winter thaw? said by MacThrasher :You know how it is in Northeast Ohio... Spring doesn't arrive until mid May. Amen to that! We didn't even have a summer last year and I do remember snow in May. We had highs in the 60's for a good chunk of June. Global warming my ass. Seems as if the winters are getting longer and summers are getting shorter around this neck of the woods. Thankfully Lake Erie is iced over or else with all this cold air coming over the lake even the secondary snow belt would be getting blitzed.
We'll see close to 40 tomorrow then it's back below freezing for all of next week. -- Need a DJ within 60 miles of Youngstown, OH? Check out my service: »www.thebomb102djservice.com

| Re: Mid-winter thaw? In SW Ohio we had plenty of heat last summer and no rain after July 4 till mid fall. GW is not proved nor disproved over a winter weather. Southern CA has seen unusually warm weather . What happens in one part of one state does not disprove anything. | |

| Re: Mid-winter thaw? said by LadyL :Well, it's almost 30 here Still too cold for me. Some of those housecicles are falling...too many 'thumps' and dents on my siding. Neighbor next door just left for 4PM Mass - she's 81+. I could hear her slowly backing out her garage...*crunch crunch crunch*...that's ice and packed snow. It got up to 47 here today, almost inspiring enough to get me working on my tan!
No *crunch, crunch, crunch* here. I take my snow blower and clear the alley and drives for most of my neighbors. It gets the alley clear sooner and doesn't turn into icy ruts that way.

Still have not had a plow come thru our neighborhood.

A short lived warm up.... by Saturday, it's a high of 9 and low of 0.
I'd rather have rain than snow, but rather have snow than ice.
I too am tired of this. | |

Oh please - you are being overly dramatic - lived in Ohio since 1969 and we still have 4 seasons and I do not remember a time EVER that the temps went from 80 to -20 overnight.
Just like always - some seasons seem longer or shorter all thru my life. When I was a kid (3rd grade I think) I snowed on my b-day - April 24. Could not see across the school yard. It was gone the next say as expected.

| I think the biggest change is that the seasons have shifted. I can remember nearly always having snow on the ground by early November. Now, it doesn't seem like we get much 'til Christmas. I can also remember getting home from school and going swimming in Lake Erie... well before June. You'd have to be a polar bear to do that now. I know, even now, that I can go to high school football games in a t-shirt and shorts, but I have to wear a snowmobile suit sometimes, to watch high school baseball. I'd say that the seasons have shifted about a month and a half over the last 50 years or so. -- I was born at night... but not last night! | |

| Hey you guys... better get ready....
Mid-Winter thaw is done...... our forecast reads:
Rains are wrapping up this evening as showers push east. Skies will gradually clear overnight. West winds will be breezy tonight and tomorrow. Sunshine helps us back into the 40s tomorrow. But a storm system moving our way form the SW Friday will bring the potential for a winter storm Friday evening through early Saturday with heavy snow possible overnight Friday night. Right now, we're looking at a possibility of 4" to 8" of total accumulation by Saturday morning. We'll be able to zero in closer on snow totals by Thursday evening. Thunder snow and an accumulation of 1" per hour is possible.
