| Patch Panel Question
I'm a relative newbie to this business, but I have been doing commercial installations of ADSL, Cisco 1841 & Cisco 2950's in a chain of retail stores. My job ends once the router & switch can be accessed through a static IP by the solutions provider. Once this is accomplished, another vendor installs all the runs to the registers, credit card terminals and office computers. They are terminated at a 110 patch block and connected to the 2950 with jumpers. There is also another "Voice Block' which distributes the voice line to various ports on the 110 block and then to the switch. (Cisco 2950) My question is why are these voice lines routed through the 110 block instead of going directly from the voice block to the 2950?
I have photos of some of these installations if emailing them will help you understand what is going on.
