Eventually I replaced the no-name modem with a DrayTek Vigor model and all the issues I had been experiencing just stopped.

So I would recommend that you consider the DrayTek Vigor 110 ADSL2+ Ethernet Modem. Cheapest price I can find in the UK is here

Recently the connection to the internet fails about 3 times a day.

Below is the latest router log. Of note is the entry at 2009/01/25 12:11:52 PPPOE No response to 6 echo-requests. that looks like it triggers the disconnect.

Please can anyone advise.
