Linkstation HS-DH500GL help

Hi, I have a Buffalo Link Station HS-GH500GL network drive. It is attached via Ethernet to a Buffalo WHR-HP 54G running tomato. I haven't had any issues for about a year, with 3 XP machines and 1 vista machine mapped to several shares on the drive. Suddenly, I can not access any of the mapped drives from any machine. The web-interface for the linkstation no longer works either. The drive is still getting a ip address from the router, and there are no error lights on the drive.

I saw some similar issues noted before on similar devices, and the answer seemed to be to force a firmware flash of the Linkstation. When I try to do this the firmware flash requires a password. I enter my admin password and get an error that it can't be authenticated. I also tried the default admin password, with no luck. The drives "NAS Software" still detects the drive, and shows it is about 50% full, but can't reach any of the shares either.

Anyone use this drive or similar and seen anything like this before, and have any ideas for a solution?

Re: Linkstation HS-DH500GL help

1. Look for the Init button on back of device.

2. Press and hold the red button for 10 seconds. The device will start beeping (no beep for LS-W TGL/R1). The password and IP address has been changed to default.

For Terastation Pro/Pro II/Live or LinkStation Pro/Live:

1. To force the firmware update to the unit, users will need to enable Debug support on the Updater.exe.
2. To do this open the lsupdater.ini or nasupdater.ini file from the firmware. Whether you have nasupdater.ini or lsupdater.ini will depend on the firmware version.
3. Open the .ini file and add the following two lines to the of the text file:

[SpecialFlags]
Debug=1

1. Save the .ini file and run the Updater.exe.
2. Click on the top left corner of the Updater window (on the small picture) and select "Debug (D)". This will bring up the Debug options.
3. Select either "Ignore Current Version", or "Force Update" and click OK. This will have the program force the update even if it detects the same version was already installed.

For all other models:

1. Create a shortcut to the Buffalo Updater (There will only be one .exe file).
2. Right-click on the shortcut and goto properties.
3. Add a space and /force to the very end of the target.

EX: "C:BuffaloFirmwareTeraStation112-104HD-HTGL FWUpdate.exe" /force

4. Then run the shortcut to flash the firmware.
