Re: Proxomitron Zhen-Xjell Default.CFG 2.50 Beta Zhen Xjell,
Only thing I would like the say to you is that I really understand that you are spending a whole lot of time creating these filters, and many many users are very happy with them.
To be honest, I don't have the knowledge that you have about the Proxo-languange, some filters are really incredible, but the fault is not yours, it's the fact that there are tons of ways to create a website, and the layout of it, or getting a special function done.
I appreciate your filters the way, they are, I give negative comments because these are just needed to be able to improve things even further. My first impressions notices where those of 1 full day surfing to sites I visit regularly, I know how responsive they usually are, the look of them, etc...etc... I just stated that a lot of them don't work now, layout is worse, and looking at the source-site, they are bigger, yet they don't load as fast as before....
The whole is idea is brilliant, there's just a lot of improvements to be done.
So, Sorry for sounding so negative and rude, It was a reaction of a first-day experience. | | Zhen-XjellProlific BunnyPremium,VIP,ExMod 2001-04 join:2000-10-08 Bordentown, NJ | Many people who use Proxo with my ZXList often tend to send me emails with questions and suggestions. Feedback like that helps to make ZXList better.
Even if you post here with URLs and screenshots of how you view things would be a help not only to yourself, but to others who benefit from ZXList.
One thing to remember, no matter how large the list of filters are, only the ones that are activated have any impact on Proxomitron. The inactive filters are just like filters that aren't there at all.
You see, I view the web as something the way I want to see it thru my own eyes. Proxo helps me do that. I'm not so much interested in the fireworks and flair.. I'm after information, information that doesn't pollute my system or track my whereabouts.

You don't like the beets? Have the ribs instead. But don't say it's all **** because user participation and selection is required to get a free lunch designed to your liking.
Zhen's choices for his own browsing (it is his default configuration, after all) may be more rigorous than my own, but that's no problem. I can figure out what's right for me. I put a little time in to try to understand the filters and the program and then change the config to suit my needs rather than complain that "it doesn't work," it creates a "junkyard" and criticize Zhen's choices. That's churlish behavior IMO, not constructive criticism. (And, as I noted above before you posted your "critique," the Super Opener filter does work if you disable the "Open in Same Window" filter.)
If you want to stick to the basics, use the program's default configuration filters and add the ones you want from the variety of filters available online or design your own.
If you use Zhen's config, you'll get Zhen's config. Change it to suit your needs if you wish. I do and I also thank Zhen for sharing his work with us. | | FlippantSo Much For SubtletyPremium,Mod join:2000-06-04 Katy, TX Host: Filesharing Software Earthlink Cable Texas Gulf Coast AT&T U-verse AT&T Southwest
| reply to Buffalo8 Buffalo,
I see it as a tool. The better you can handle it the better it works for you. I also think the rules are too restrictive for the way and sites I surf. So when an update comes out I take a day or so and customize the tool for how I work. Yeah it takes a little time, but then so does everything worthwhile on a computer. In fact I haven't loaded the new versions of either because I just got through the last update a couple weeks ago. When I have time for it I will get around to it. This is definitely one tool that you can customize to your hearts content.
Paul, kudos to you for all the hard work you put into this and then making it available for all of us to use. This is not your job but something you enjoy and wish to share. Thanks from me.
