I know one manager who was offered an accepted a package. He was eligible to retire anyway. One of the clerical staff from my workgroup was offered a package or a different job, but hasn't decided what to do yet.
I can never understand the logic behind massive layoffs? The company complains that times are tough, economic slow down, cause too many other companies are laying off people and that means less business, so we need to layoff even more people. So who is left to buy the product? That would be like a sprinter chopping off his legs, cause that will make him lighter and therefore he should run faster...
