Yeah.. I've got about 1/2 of the driveway done.. You gotta get underneath the ice to be effective. It weighs a lot more than usual too.. |

| reply to BurntCricket They are MUCH better now, some are still iffy but most are clear or passable, I left for work at about 1pm and my normal 15 minute drive took TWO hours ... of course I was late, but no biggy, what made things a lot worse is the fact 480 was closed due to down power lines @150th, so everyone had to take Brookpark Rd.. -- It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. |

| Thats pretty much the way it is around here, too. Streets are snow-covered but very passable. The plows are starting to go around and clean the edges back to where they should be, and moving the piles back up off the road intersections. Their initial attempts were to just "make a path". Now they're fine tuning their work. Seems colder than hell today, though, for some reason. I just cleaned out the bottom of my daughter's drive and damn near froze. And I only out a few minutes. Seems much colder than yesterday. -- I was born at night... but not last night! |

| reply to Pacrat I had wanted to go grocery shopping today, but the wind is making it colder than when it was really snowing hard! Just staying inside and watching a dvd right now 'Bon Cop, Bad Cop' - bilingual dvd Too cold outside. -- Lonnie |

| It's snowing again here. Mixture of fat, fluffy flakes and the type of snow that looks like it is coming off the rooftops - but it isn't! Oh well, Ohio. -- Lonnie |

| At 40 it will be okay, and its only for one day. What would be a problem is if it warms up to the fifties or sixties for a couple days, which I have a feeling is exactly what it going to happen. -- It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. |

CylonRed Premium,MVM join:2000-07-06 Bloom County 1 edit | Not going to get that warm in Ohio in January though - 40's will be enough to melt a lot of snow and ice. And they are saying possible rain as well and that will melt it real quick. |

1 edit | We got just a dusting over night. Just enough to "clean" everything up. Definitely not enough to warrant cleaning it off. They were predicting 1-2" for us, but I guess that never materialized. I'll take it!
Of course, the one day I leave the truck out overnight, is the one day that it chose not to start this morning. New battery and it still wouldn't start. Waiting for the tow truck to haul it away to see what the hell's wrong with it. -- I was born at night... but not last night! |

| Well, son came out at 11AM, plowed the crap up to those bushes tween my house and neighbors...18" of bushes left visible! The roofs (garages & houses) that were clear yesterday are back to being covered again. It is now 1:48PM...can't see the driveway or the streets...covered with snow again! Street plows haven't been out at all today. Light flakes are falling...looks like someone is shaking a gigantic box of Ivory Snow! Wish this stuff would stop. -- Lonnie |

| I heard/saw that this was all lake effect stuff. Saw pictures of the lake on the weather yesterday, and there's still a lot of open water. Ice is only near the shoreline. With the wind coming dead out of the north, you guys are going to get nailed over and over until the lake freezes over. -- I was born at night... but not last night! |

| Lake effect? I don't think so. Street plow just went by on the street in front of my house (corner lot)...looks like hell! He'll eventually (say 1hr) come down the cross street to plow more crap into my driveway...until then, those trying to drive down the cross street better have 4W drive or a pickup! Even if I could get out of my driveway, I wouldn't be able to cross the snow barrier he made Well, time for something to eat and put a dvd into the tv See ya later...be careful if you have to drive. -- Lonnie |

| reply to LadyL The forecaster on one of the Cleveland channels expounded tonight that some areas could receive as much as a foot or more of this lake effect event. They said they had word of some areas already getting 6" or more and less than a mile away... just a dusting... up to an inch. he said that as long as the wind keeps coming out the north the snow will continue to fall. Not until the wind shifts around to the west will the snow end. -- I was born at night... but not last night! |

| reply to CylonRed Lake effect snow in Dayton? I never heard of it getting that far south. They did say that Mansfield could feel the effects of these northerly winds and lake effect snow bands, though. I didn't think they ever got so far south as Dayton. Wow!
I was out today, putting a new battery in my truck, and I thought it was much colder than it really was. By the time I got done, I was chilled to the bone. I know it wasn't that cold (around 24º) but there was just enough wind to make it seem like it was bitter cold. What really pissed me off was that it, obviously, was not the battery. It still wouldn't turn over with the new battery in it. I called for a tow truck to have it taken to the dealership down the street. I wasn't about to play around with it when it was so basted cold. The tow truck driver grabbed my keys and gave it one more try and the damn thing started right up. He suggested that I just drive it down and save the towing expense. I asked him what I owed him and he declined any payment at all. I had about five bucks on me so I gave him that as a tip, and told him the coffee, at least, was on me. I suspect the starter or solenoid switch is shot. I drove it to the dealership and left it for them to check out. They went out and it started right up... again. They still have it, so I'm assuming they're trying to get it to act up again, after sitting all night in the cold. They told me they were going to get right on it and would call me when it was ready. I never heard from them so I'm guessing they did not find the problem. -- I was born at night... but not last night! |
