On one hand I do not agree with giving away copyrighted works without the permission of the copyright holder. On the other hand, I hope that there will be a precedent setting lawsuit when the ISP's begin disconnecting innocent subscribers.
The ISP's do not have a good record of tracking dynamic IP assignments. They need to be held accountable for misidentifying subscribers. If I were to receive such a letter my ISP would be hearing from a lawyer.
ISP's should be required to set up a department like the abuse department to assist customers determine if their broadband connection has been hijacked. One of my neighbors has a unsecured wireless router. It would not be too hard for a neighbor to use their broadband connection for illegal activities.
